Several years ago while at a Harley shop just checking things out my wife and I noticed fake ponytails that bikers could somehow pin to their skill and well... have that ponytail biker look. Not what I need but it was funny and we thought who would buy such a thing and WHY?

Well, today, on our way to WalMart, we came to a stop sign and there was a Harley biker in front of us with a brown pony tail about 9" long hanging out the back of his helmet. It seemed normal and I thought nothing of it until my wife said that the pony tail was one of those fake things. I said no way, it looks real to me. She said, "look at his beard!" The biker dude turned his head to look for traffic prior to pulling out into the main highway. Sure as hell, this guy was at LEAST in his late 60's and his full beard, very full beard, was as white as snow. What a tough guy.

We followed him for about 15 miles watching him bike down the highway giving the biker wave to on coming bikers. We both just laughed and thought what a funny deal!

I think it will be a bit while before I buy one of these fake ponytails. Anyone of you biker guys pin one on? Come on, no reason to hide in the closet.

It might have been real. I have a ten" pony tail (with brown hair), and a full white beard.

I am not a biker, though.

That's what I told my wife, she said that would be a stretch. It sure looked real to me but then the hair is real, from someone.

I use one as a clip on tie.

Matches with my hair shirt.

My wife knew what a hair shirt was, I had no clue. Looked it up. Learn something new everyday, even if it came from a fake ponytail.

It's like wearing a clip on tie-it gives you the "look", but if someone grabs it in a fight...

Genuine long pony tails are usually braided, tucked inside clothing while riding, or banded all the way down. They won't grow very long if they aren't. Even riding in a car with the windows down will turn mine to dreadlocks in short order.

Well there is the whole I’m a rebel so I’ll dress and look like every other rebel thing I haven’t quite yet figured out.

Sometimes it's an ethnic thing.

Maybe I have long hair because I am 1/8 Cherokee. One of my sons has hair longer than mine. The other one's hair is 1/4" or so. I guess it's a personal choice.

My wife likes my hair. I really don't care what anyone else thinks.

I just use a squirrel tail.
A raccoon's tail will also work, but the stripes tip some folks off.
Fox tails are GREAT, but the red is a tip off for your really bright friends if you are not red-haired. Nowadays, a gray fox tail is about perfect....

I've got a hat. Visor, really. Its normal, except the top is covered with a grey to white spiked "doo". I can wear it and everyone thinks I'm a young punk. Then whey they see my face and matching beard, they just think I'm a sad old punk trying to be young again. When I take off the visor, everyone laughs. It was worth the $10 I paid for it a year ago. This year they were selling for $20, and weren't as well made (made in china.)

Who wants to relive their youth again? That was painful. Who'd want to do it as a jerk or dirtbag? Really stupid!

A fake pony tail, or fake anything is just pathetic. They fool no one, and just make themselves look ridiculous. I know it is illegal, but I would like to walk up behind someone with a fake pony tail, pull out a cigarette lighter, and set in on fire.
