Default Is Harry's Razor really good ? ?

Have used Schick Injector for 60 years.
Tried a few cartridge multi-blade.
Liked the Schick better.

Harry's ad make the product sound great.

If you are a Harry's user, how long have you been?
How many comfortable shaved with a cartridge?

I have used them for several years. I’m bald and shave every three days. The razors last a long time. I should probably change them more frequently than I do. I have them delivered quarterly.

I've used Harry's for about 15 years. Before that I used Gillette which I preferred to Schick. Harry's are better than Gillette and last longer. Good product.

I use Dollar Shave Club. Have used for several years. Very good. They also sell an after shave lotion that has SPF 30 that I use after shaving and on neck and ears. Keeps me some having to put sunscreen on my face. Check them out on line.

I’ve gone full circle. I use a double edge safety razor. Razors are a few pennies each. I shave my head, so I go through two razors a week. YMMV.

safety razor is the way to go. I got 100 Feather blades for $50. You can find a fairly inexpensive razor on Amazon or Ebay. I use 1 blade for 2-3 weeks. I notice that it gets dull but since I shave in the shower I can do a second shave and get just as close.

I kinda think you have to standardize the cost, so you can compare,,

Possibly dollars per month,, (like miles per gallon)

For me, I used to use Schick,, then, one time Sam's Club had Gillette on sale.

Currently, I use a Gillette 5 blade,, they are expensive,, BUT,,,
for me, they last,, and last.

I dated the package of cartridges when I started using them,
The first cartridge lasted 4 months
I am 3 months into the second cartridge. It is still great.

I used to get one month out of the Schick 3 blades.
If I use my wifes disposables,, I get one shave,, that is it.

So, my cost/ per month for the 5 blade Gillette,,,
$2 per blade, 4 months, My cost is $0.50 per month.

The BIG plus,, ??
For the entire 4 months, minus the last shave or two,,
there is ZERO pull or tug or nick.
I have never, in 60 years of shaving, had a closer shave.

This is the only razor that truly results in "baby smooth" face skin.

Harry's has a bouncy center, meaning it will mold to face shape more easily. DSC has a more solid blade. In my household, myself and oldest prefer DSC, middle son prefers Harrys and the youngest just thinks he needs to shave so his preference is marked as pending.

Cool Double Edge Only

Not a user of Harry’s Razors, nope, no
way, and expensive. I used cartridge blades
for years, wish I would have known better.

About 5 years ago I came across a 1941
Gillette “Super Speed” TTO (Turn to Open)
double edge safety razor.

My whole shaving routine changed forever
and for the better. Using a double edge
blade is inexpensive (6¢/blade?), lasts
maybe 2 weeks or until I think I want a new
blade, and so sharp and best shave ever.

So there is no way I would ever recommend
that Harry’s scam.

The Best to you and your Endeavors.

Gillette 1941 on the top left and Gillette “Good Will”
top right.

I bought a straight razor years ago. I was going to go really old school.
I did my cheeks but when I got to the neck/carotid area my butt puckered and I went back to my safety razor.

I’ve been loyal to Schick for years. I get two months out of a cartridge, shaving 5-6 times a week. No reason to look elsewhere.

I use whatever razor I find in the shower. Since it is just me and my wife, I strongly suspect it is hers. It's pink. Works good.

I have been using a Double Edge Gillette razor, Badger Brush and cake soap since I started shaving in HS. For about 6 months in college I did use a Gillette Trac ll at the urging of my college room mates, but never really cared for it. Switched right back to my DE razor.

About 7-8 years ago I found a HUGE sale (West Coast Shaving) on my favorite DE blades (Persona Blue and Persona Red) and purchased 10 boxes of 100 blades each. So after buying 1,000 blades I have a lifetime supply - and then some! I also buy my favorite shaving soaps on sale so I always have a year or two supply in stock.

Don't know how Harry's Razor's are personally because I have never had the opportunity to try one - never will. I would think that they are descent enough because they did become a big thorn in Gillettes side. I believe Harry's sold out to Wilkerson Sword a few years back for big bucks.

I had one of those as well - excellent razor! My son borrowed it last year when he and his wife came down for a visit and he forgot to pack his razor. Needless to say, I no longer have it! LOL

I've used top of the line Gillette Fusion 5 Razors for quite a while. For decades I bought the cheapest double or triple bade disposables and the Fusion 5 blades are expensive but they last much longer so in the long run not much more money. The handle takes a AAA battery that lasts for years and the razor vibrates giving a smoother and closer shave and it works great in the shower which is where I normally shave. Do your face a favor and give one a try.

Norelco 5000 Wet/Dry rechargeable. Bought it 5 years ago, so it currently costs me $0.04 a day and the cost keeps falling as the razor gets older.

If you have to break shaving down to cost per shave, you probably should just grow a beard and save the money.

I get several weeks of shaving from those cheap BIC throwaways unless the wife uses it. Then its lifespan is down to a week. Ladies--what's up with that?

I am not about to figure out what the little face grooming I do costs. Its got to be a small number!

During the long cold winter I let my beard and burns grow longer, it does keep me warmer in northern NYs nasty weather. I stay bearded but keep it much shorter in the better months.

I have a old Wahl clipper set and that does a good safe job. Also as part of cost cutting it can do my scalp hair also.

My father shaved most of his life with a straight razor till he hit mid 90s. Then for about a year he used a electric which he barely tolerated!

A hint off topic but I am told what solution you clean your blade with can remove build up on the blade and extend the life of said blade.

When women shave their legs and pits they usually use no soap to make the hair softer and easier to cut. Then don't really clean the razor's blade...causing corrosion..= dull. This was told to me by a lady who ran a beauty school above our barber shop. I spent time there and learned women's styling too...course ...that's where the women were...My momma only raised one fool...the one that just loved red heads!I tried to get her to teach me bikini shaving...she said she might be too old for me.

Looking back...I should have argued that point

I keep my razor in my nightstand.

Ruthie keeps hers in the shower which is handy as I find it works well on old grout.

Best thing to use to clear out the crud that builds up between the blades of the multiple blade razors is your wife's toothbrush. Just rinse it off well before putting it back.

Now that I no longer have to resemble a 20 year old picture on a government credential I intend to quit shaving one week from today when I leave for a week alone in a cabin. Wife likes me in a beard since it covers my face - or so she told me when I was working narcotics. I had been using Harry's for about 5 years at least. I liked their products and service, price was in line with what I had been paying over the counter. Never inquired into their politics, sex practices or taste in cars. After the current stock is gone I will probably revert to a safety razor and brush for cleaning up the edges if I can find a source for 10-packs of blades. Don't need jobber lots at this point.

I think the shorter “lifespan” is the fact that there is a lot more surface area on a pair of legs than half of a face.

Unless you are shaving your head, face, neck and between your shoulder blades a woman's razor covers more ground.

I wrote off Harry’s a long time ago as just being average razors with a strong marketing plan.

When my nephew was little, my sister had a heck of a time potty training him.
I guess he got tired of getting hollered at.
One day my sister caught him scrubbing his underwear with my brother in laws toothbrush.

I use Gillette disposable razors that I can pick up at Sam's Club at a decent price. They last a long time because I cut way down on my shaving since I retired.

Double blades from Amazon, the cheapest run $7.99 per 100. I usually buy something in the $15 range. A cake of shaving soap runs 3 for $9 and last me 10-12 months per cake. I would use a badger hair shaving brush, if I had the most expensive blades I could find. I get a better shave with soap than anything that comes from a can.

Good razor, cheap, but doesn't last as long as a name brand if you have a heavy beard when you rinse and clean it every time you use it though.
I didn't know they were a woke company, I'll certainly be dropping them now.
Buhbye Harry's
