I met my friend for a light lunch today at the TGIFridays by Scranton.

Overall, it was ok.

She ordered some fancy blue green drink. She said it was good (came with a slice of fresh pineapple). I had 2 Miller Lite drafts.

We got the appetizer platter. Picked mozzarella sticks, Buffalo wings (bone in), and potato skins.

The mozzarella sticks were good. I always liked them at TGIFridays. A little different, and the marinara sauce is ok.

The wings were average. A little on the small side. Good sauce though.

The potato skins I had half of one. I don't care for them much. My friend complained that they should use a better grade or type of cheese.

She picked up the tab, which I didn't expect. So I'm not sure what the total was, but I'm guessing about 40 bucks. The beers were 5 each, her drink 9, and the platter 18.

It was ok. All I really cared about was to visit and catch up.

We met at 1pm, and it was quiet. By the time we left an hour later, it did fill up some. They were short handed for help, so I'm glad we got there when we did.

On my way home I passed Olive Garden, where the parking lot was full. Again, I don't get it. There are so many good mom and pop Italian places in and around Scranton. Olive Garden isn't on my list.

Red Lobster was relatively empty. If I had to make a choice, I'd rake RL over OG.

So that's all folks.

Glad to hear you had a good time with a good friend. Nice way to spend an afternoon. You can have the big chain restaurants, though. I'll stick to the local pubs thank you very much. :D

Oh I agree. When Mrs. QD67 and I go out we stay locally owned.

In this case, it's easier for both of us to meet at TGIFridays. Kind of a half way place right off I-81. Plus, she likes funny colored specialty drinks 🤣

Just heard the TGIF near my place in Manila was closing. The Outback next door closed during Covid; hopefully, the Dennys survives.

I used to have quite a few female friends, especially in the 18 years between wife #2 and #3. I can't say I've had lunch with any of them in almost 20 years. Hmmm. :) Joe

This is strictly a friendship. I'm quite a bit older than her. She's married with 2 kids. Husband is a good guy.

I'm her father figure (her dad died 20 years ago), and she's like a daughter to me.

I understand your friendship very well. I have a similar friendship with a former coworker. She considers me as a father figure. We text regularly and occasionally see each other to visit and catch up. I was at her house last week visiting with her , her husband and her son who is autistic.
She has helped me with my rough patches since my wife passed away.
There is not now or has there ever been any hanky panky. I am 24 years her senior and at 71 if I was ever so inclined she would be relatively safe as old guys will understand. LOL It is hard to explain how we became close friends but it is what it is.
