New wheelchair ramp VA installed

From what I understand they'll put hand holds in the shower also . I think they install toilets too , higher so a person doesn't have to sit real low .

I was at a gun show in line , waiting for it to open up . Got to talking to the guy behind me , a vet , that was a certified contractor . That's all he did , working for the VA doing all these installs .

All you vets that need these type of installs to make your life easier and safer , contact your local VA . Make the worthless Washington Pogues do something for you , you [we] deserve it .

Very nice! Looks to be maintenance-free

About 15 years ago one of the old boys at my VFW post needed a ramp. Took about 2 hours to do the measuring, draw it up, do a materials list (treated lumber construction). Couple of the others came on board, we loaded up the materials and did the installation in about 4 hours.

The VFW was ready to cover the cost, but in all the confusion the rest of that day the receipts couldn't be found. Jimmy was a regular at the post, lots of great stories from his Navy time in Korea, Japan, Hawaii during the 1950s and 1960s. Loved his cars; last thing he drove was a shiny new Camaro convertible when his Corvette became too hard for him to get in and out of.

That is truly a beautiful job and I am glad someone else is receiving great care from the VA. I have never had anything close to a serious complaint about the VA and have just received my 2nd Identification Card which means I have been active now for ten years at least, it seems like much longer. They have been taking care of nearly all of my needs, including medication and yearly visits. I went outside the VA for hearing aids because I wanted a little more than offered, as well as my cataract surgery and eyeglasses. I have the money for things like substantial hand holds in the tub/shower, but it is nice to know those things could possibly be covered. I have a friend that does that sort of thing to supplement his income and would just as soon help him out especially since he is very competent and does great work.
I just met my provider from United Healthcare which we were required to sign up for regardless of VA coverage. She is very kind as well as quite young which I find encouraging since I have outlived a few of my Docs. She is going to take off a few skin tags and so far none of my visits there have cost me anything either.
The most fortunate thing about VA coverage for me is full coverage of any Prescriptions, some of my meds cost friends of mine on Medicare quite a bit after they fall through the donut hole.
