Merry Christmas. I went to my regular FFL earlier this week to ship a revolver I sold to a guy and was surprised at the price. My FFL charges $30.00 if I box the gun, and $40.00 if he has to box the gun for his work. Then there is the USPS charge of $16.85 for medium flat rate, or $23.05 for large flat rate. A signature confirmation is $9.80, then add some insurance on a $900.00 gun, and that runs a total of around $65.00 if I box the gun myself. If it is a bigger gun and needs a bigger box, that is more money, and if the gun is valued more than $900.00, that is even more money.
What do you all pay for shipping handguns, and what do you charge the guy buying your gun?

The post office has a couple of different sized Flat-Rate Priority boxes. Yeah, the insurance will increase the cost, accordingly. I bring the gun and the box, pre-labeled. Add the FFL's fee of $25.:)

If you buy enough insurance the signature is free. Or maybe if you get signature it comes with a certain amount of insurance. I forget but you can work those two to your benefit.

In my recent experience, $65 via an FFL is not bad. I have been charged as much as just over $100 by an FFL.

For the past year or so, I have been using a service called ShipMyGun. Costs $43 or so, insured, via you delivering prepaid, labeled, and boxed gun to UPS, and UPs shipping to an FFL for your buyer to pick up. ShipMyGun is associated with Buds Guns, and is quick to answer questions by phone.

Selling guns for people on the internet, my FFL changes 45.00 for handgun and 55.00 for a long gun. I box it but have to unpack it for them to see the serial number, then repack. Insurance is 1.25 per 100.00 value. They create the UPS label. Add 10.00 for long gun in mountain or pacific time and 10.00 if over 48”.

Since I have shipped a lot of guns through them, I am considered an employee. If I buy something off the internet and they receive it, the transfer is free, no charge. Nice perk, Larry

The last couple I’ve shipped ran me $75 and $105 via my friendly neighborhood ffl. I prefer to sell local where there’s a roughly $45 transfer fee-we have to go through an ffl here in Colorado.

This thread makes me appreciate my FFL, he charges $15 over the actual shipping cost. For most handguns that’s $32.00.

$15 for incoming transfers.

FWIW I just had my FFL in WA ship a gun to my FFL in Vegas via USPS. He charged me $30, which included packaging the gun. When he showed me the receipt, so I could take a picture of the tracking number, I saw that he paid $11.

The only gun I have ever bought at auction and had shipped to me I was charged105 complete..shipping and local FFL fee The shipper was making quite a profit by charging me everything he could...including his state's sales tax which as wrong...but I ended up with a fairly nice 27-2 5 inch at a total cost of 285 dollars. I bought it as a shooter and got quite a bit more value than the auction price. The same auction house has another Auction coming up in January...their prices have been very reasonable.and they have a new FFL with much more reasonable shippng charge

Small flat rate box, not many guns will fit in those boxes, especially if the gun is in a box or case.

My local FFL wants $50 to ship a gun (plus actual costs). My Son's FFL in Washington wants $100 to receive the gun. Since Washington just put in the new law requiring a 12 or 16 hour class to be allowed to receive a gun, and it costs $100+ and the time to get it done, I believe my son has received his last gun from me. He insist interested in taking that class.
