Girl, 7, Dies While Drag Racing at Florida Track
Girl, 7, Dies While Drag Racing at Florida Track
A first-grader has died "while she fulfilled her dream" - drag racing on a Central Florida racetrack.
Authorities say 7-year-old Elienisse Zoe Diaz Rodriguez lost control of the junior dragster she was driving and slammed into a safety guide worker before smashing into a concrete wall.
It's not clear how fast Elienisse was going at the time of the crash, but the Independent reports that junior dragsters like the one Elienisse was driving can go up to 85mph.

Darwin? Wow, and not wow in a good way.
The sport is actually well regulated and kids that age are running the 1/8 mile with, IIRC, 5 hp engines. I don't have the regulation in front of me but track length, power, speeds and times are limited according to age.

Somebody sure screwed up — and not the seven year-old.
