My wife received a TEXT that our Pennsylvania EZ-pass was overdrawn, and she could take care of it with a check via text.

When she attempted to contact the Turnpike Authority, their communications were swamped!

We haven't been on the Turnpike since last September! Be careful out there!

I received a text from NC EZ Pass every few days for a couple of weeks. I knew I had a balance due on my account from a recent trip but had heard about this scam so played it safe and went directly to their website. The first thing that pops up is a warning: If you received a text from us it would be from this number, followed by a number with a NC area code. If it's not this number it's a scam! The number I was getting was from 401 area code, Rhode Island. I guess that was a clue...

Phone call this morning from a local (Kiwiland) cellphone number.

It was "Visa Security" about two transactions $800 and $1000 overnight that had been blocked, but they needed to speak to me. Person who picked up spoke english with an accent, but understandable. Repeated he was from "Visa Security". I asked which card and he repeated it.

I asked him which bank or financial institution he represented and again, "Visa Security".

That's when I told him I was law enforcement, every different financial institution that offered Visa had their own security department and that I was hanging up and calling my bank.

They confirmed no transactions overnight and made a note in my file.

Be aware.

What is more chilling is getting bridge toll texts repeatedly on the same day or day after the event.
Rare ones that don't coincide with fact are self evident. What is chilling is wondering how they do it! Privacy is so dead
