I never was much of a boxing fan, but my wife and I REALLY loved our George Foreman grill!

Olympic heavy weight champ! What was that? 1968? Waving the little American flag all around?

And, man! Foreman sure had Joe Frazier's number! Smokin' Joe, of course, never, ever, backed off anybody. So, for Foreman, big and strong as he was, the ideal opponent.

I recall, of course, the Rumble in the Jungle. And Ali's rope a dope. Ali boom ba yay! Man, whatta fight!

But also, 47 or 48 [edit: 45] years old, George came back. Twenty years later or whatever, after Ali whupped his ***. I'm in Tokyo watching TV, and, suddenly, up pops a boxing championship. Heavy weight champ of the world! UFB! Early, mid (?) '90s, I think it was.

I was ... flabbergasted!

George, go in peace. Bless all the little Georges you have left behind. Thanks for the memories, big guy!

I used to be a big boxing fan up until Tyson bit a piece of Holyfield's ear off - that turned me off and I lost interest as boxing became a bit like professional wrestling. I've watched almost all of Foreman's fights and he seemed like a very descent man and a genuinely nice guy. I also though he was fairly successful at a post boxing career selling his wares. He always had a smile on his face! While he didn't live the longest life, he had a good run for a man in his profession who got hit hard many times.

I was never a real boxing fan but what I appreciated the most about George was his sense of humor. Great smile, never afraid to make fun of himself. From what I have read, he was a good guy and a man of faith.
May He Rest In Peace.

I don’t think that anybody transformed themself like George Forman. The young George Forman was just plain scary. When he made is come back he was the guy you wanted to eat hamburgers with. George was always humble towards his opponents. A Man of faith, and honor. We will miss you Big George!
