Just adding my .02 on this thread. I picked up one of the M&P 2.0 10mm's (4" barrel) at my LGS over the weekend. I always test anything I buy there at their range before bringing it home. I ran 200rds of range ammo through it with no problem, and then ran 10 rounds of Doubletap 165 gr. Golden...
UPDATE: I finally got this 629 back a couple days ago. Smith and Wesson paid for everything, including shipping both ways. Can't ask for better customer service than that. They took a firearm that they knew was bought used (and was probably sold with problems), and fixed it under warranty as...
UPDATE: I called today, and he sent me a shipping label while we were still on the phone. I'll just pick up the phone if I ever need to do this again. I'm very impressed that they are willing to fix this one for free....even though it was bought used and obviously in this condition (unknown...
Hi all - I have a few S&W Revolvers now, and just picked up a 629 4" to compliment my 329PD and share holsters and such. I got it used for a good price from a local dealer....but waited quite a while to shoot it for the first time (my bad). Well, first time out cylinder locked up. Can't get...
I also found out when my 629 was made. Looked through the box and found the test fire round in the envelope. Date was 01-02-07. I'm not sure what their date order is, but I'm assuming it was made in early 2007.
Those are sweet! My new one is a 629-6, so my guess is it's fairly new. I'll start keeping my eye out for the older ones without the lock, but I really don't care as long as it's reliable. Nice thing about 44 magnums is that there aren't that many of us who really like them. I think lot's of...
I just added a photo of my small (but growing) S&W family.
The new kid is obviously on the left. THe 329PD is on the right, and my pocket cannon (340PD) is below.
Image was added to original post.
I'm sure I'll look into some more 629s in the future. I love the 44 mag for my purposes. I am a professional wildlife photographer who lives in Southwest Florida. My "swamp guns" go though hell, as I regularly roll around in the mud, wade through water, etc. to get the shots that I do. Autos...
I already have the 329PD (and love it!), but wanted to get a steel N frame to go with it. I was in one of my favorite shops today, and there was a used 4 inch 629 sitting in the counter. I had been considering getting a new one anyway, but this used one was in great shape...and exactly what I...
I actually own the 340PD as well. Have carried that pocket cannon for a few years now. It's far worse to shoot with .357 than the 329 is with 44 mag, but I carry it with .357 mag for the same reason I have 44 mags in the 329. If you're in a situation where you need them, recoil will be the...
