Who makes the best 148gr. HBWC, Berry's, Zero, Hornady, Speer, ETC

If you're not shooting bullseye, then any 148 grain lead bullet would be pretty good. All the manufacturers you mentioned would approximately group the same at 25 yards. Load the least expensive bullet and go have fun.

    The kit gun

My S&W collection consists of the kit guns; a prewar kit gun, a pre model 43, a pre model 34, a model 34, and a model 63 ND. My favorite is the model 43, which I think is overlooked. I was not going to collect a lot of handguns, especially any of the expensive ones. I say I have an active...

    Questions on model 35-1

The original front sights did not have anything red on them, they were solid blue.

Two questions.. Average age and what got you started?

72 years old here. I grew up on a 4 acre parcel out of town with only one neighbor - a retired TX ranger with a pile of Colt SAA's and S&W revolvers. His wife died and he moved away. Before he left, he gave me a S&W pre Model 43 for my birthday. I still use it for grouse hunting. The first new...

M49 Observation Scope with case found at gun show

I used one when I was with 2nd and 3rd Recon Bn's. I see them often at gun shows. Now that high power rifle shooters don't need spotting scopes at matches that use electronic targets, I think there will be more being sold off.

1st Year .22/32 Airweight Kit Gun

Nice revolver and history. Mine has no history, but is very accurate for what I use it for - grouse hunting. Here is a photo of my 30 shot group at 50 feet on the NRA B3 50 feet target. A few shots were rushed, but it's easy to see the gun shoots well inside 1-3/4 inches at 50 feet. I use target...

    Model 34-1 4"

Nice looking stocks on that model 34. Great price, too.

    High Standard's "The Victor"

Other than the stocks and bluing, were the barrels and internal parts still made by High Standard to the same tolerances as the Hamden guns?

    Cost Averaging Reloads

Bullets have slowly risen in price the last few years. Primers and powder have risen exponentially the last few years. With an average of $55.00 for powder, and $95.00 for primers, plus 30 cents for bullets, a 44 magnum round is costing about 50 cents to make yourself if you have the empty case...

How many guns do you own?

When reading this post, I thought I had a good count. After counting, I was surprised I had more than I thought.

    Model 34 butt frames

Which style butt frame is most predominant on the Model 34 with the 4 inch barrel, the round butt or square butt? Does one bring a higher premium over the other?

    1st series Woodsman Sport

Mine have taken many grouse. I will be selling one as I am starting to reduce my doubles of handguns.
