    New Colt Python

I bought a new python early in my collecting "career". Bought it because it was my dream gun. Them I started accumulating and experiencing S&Ws. Them my python lost its lustre. Sure, it was beautiful. But the trigger bothered me. My word for it is "gummy". The final bit of trigger travel felt...

    Advantages of 681 over 686?

I'd like to hear people's opinions on this. My not-very-informed opinion is that there's little real-world advantage of having fixed sights in a service revolver. I know that I'm equally accurate with fixed or adjustable sights. And fixed sights won't get damaged or come out of adjustment. For...

    Guns and guitars… condition/value

I hate distressed guitars. People buy them because it conveys a sense that you've played decades of gigs on it. In my opinion, you gotta EARN those dings, scratches and flakes. Here's what hundreds of sweaty gigs have done to my Tyler.

What gun are you on the lookout for?

I have one that I got cheap due to crusty spots on the blueing. It's my best shooter. I believe it's on the k frames that the long barrel most shines.

Business CEO's and business practices in general

I don't think people are any dumber or smarter than ever before. I think what you'll find is that people, in the long run, do what they are incentivized to do. What most benefits a CEOs doesn't always most benefit employees, customers, shareholders. As for getting into politics, sometimes it's...

Got my grail revolver, I could not be much happier.

It's a damn good platform. I have a few variants. My favorite is my 6" 586 no dash. Beautiful. Great shooter.

    Goldilocks gun? 63, 66, 629

Of course, the 66 is just right among those three. The 29 is the one I'd buy today because I have nothing like it in my collection. This trio exemplifies the whole being greater than the sum of the parts.

I have one of these....in nickel! Beautiful, impressive piece. She kicks pretty good with magnum loads.

    8 3/8” love

I have a couple of these, a 29 and a 14. The k frame model 14 is among my best shooters. The lighter frame makes that long tube less wobbly out at arms length. With the big frame, however, the added length tames recoil a bit. I only have two qualms with the 8-in barrels. One is that I think...

What gun are you on the lookout for?

We all have our holy grails. And we have frivolous desires. And there are things we'd just like to try. What are some of yours? My holy Grail is a deep blue pre-lock model 27 in 6" or 4". I'd also like a 745, a stub-nose 28 or 29, an M1 Garand, a Glock47, a CZ75, a high end stainless 1911, a...

What's your favorite color for stocks on various revolver finishes?

Anything looks good on stainless. On blue I like a wood stocks with a rich, reddish hue.

Current 3rd Gens in the stable

They are lovely pistols. My collection of S&W autos includes a 5906, 4506, 39. There is something about the 39 I love. It has an elegance about it.

For those age 60 or under (Gen X or later generations…)

Im in my mid 50. My passion is post WWII revolvers, written the technology peaked. Not into guns made earlier than that.
