Oh boy. Just went back and noticed you're shooting a .22 mag. Disregard my previous post suggesting std velocity LR ammo.
Those model 48's are great shooters though. I owned and shot one for a year or so back in 1973. Wound up swapping it off for a 5 screw k22 which I still own. Feeding...
Target load,
Try running CCI standard velocity, or if you can find it, Remington standard velocity through it. If your chambers are clean I'll bet they'll drop right out. Just think of what a hassle it would be if you weren't shooting a wheel gun.
That gun, case and grip combination sure is sweet. I can't think of anyone I know, let alone all of the fellows lurking here, that wouldn't be delighted to own it.
I've been using G96 CLP for cleaning and lubrication for years. Works great and doesn't have an offensive smell like some of the other products out there. Given that I only shoot lead in my pre m27, every once in a while I'll run a Lewis Lead Remover through it. As others have suggested, it's...
Thanks for the history lesson DWalt. My first firearm was a JC Higgins single shot .22 that my father bought for me when I was 7 yrs old, and of course we got it at Sears.
I've been told that Sako manufactured those guns for Sears, but never did confirm it. It sure was accurate though.
Zbreze,
You may want to check out the BMT Mooner. Their website is bmtequipped.com. I tried several different tools before settling on this one. None of the others were as quick or easy to use. They're a bit expensive, but worth it to my mind if you're going to burn through the ammo; and...
So here's a question on a topic I've not seen debated here before.
From time to time we see revolvers that have been modified to suit one's idea of an "ideal" revolver for some specific purpose; often times daily carry; concealed or open. Witness Kieth 44's outstanding conversion of an old...
There's nothing like a gun with a little livin' rubbed into it, and the metal on that one looks great just the way you have it. A set of smooth wood or ivory boot grips would look good on it though.
Gents,
I've had the desire for a baby Chiefs Special lately. Do I need one? Well no. I have a perfectly servicable J frame from 1973 with a slick trigger and double action only bobbed hammer. Its a case of want rather than need; as I'm sure you understand.
Anyway, I just heard of one that...
".......so I picked up a battered and beaten set of early Magnas and I think the gun looks better with the wood looking more contemporary to the metal".
While it's great to see all of the pristine examples of guns and grips shown on this forum, I prefer to own things wih a little livin' rubbed...
Here's my humble submission. K-22 #20,918. Shipped to Kelam Hardware in Roanoke VA on May 20, 1948. I swapped a Model 48 for it in 1972, and felt I got the better end of the deal; mostly because .22 Magnum ammo was $3.00 / box at the time and I could barely afford to feed that model 48...
I'm no expert, but will share a recent experience in the event that it helps in your case Fackler Rebel. I had the same problem with my old "one liner", and it occured at about the 50 - 60 round mark. If I opened and closed the cylinder it'd go right back to working fine. Over time it got...
