This K38 was my first 5 screw, and first S&W. Paid $140 for it in 1981. Of course, I knew nothing about model variations then, I just wanted a .38 to shoot. I still have it and it still goes to the range.

Be cautious with Trail Boss. I load wadcutters for my pre-model K32, and the only time I have stuck a bullet was with 1.7 gr Trail Boss. Sounded different, so checked the bore and no harm done, but I was through shooting for the day. I like WST, Bullseye, W231.

Wow! Thanks for the education. I must admit to never having heard of Cloyce. These feel good in the hand, for shooting in SA mode. The enclosed backstrap makes the trigger reach a bit long for my hand in DA.

I just picked up these N frame stocks and need the help of the experts as to the maker. Due to the lack of jig holes, and because the screw enters from the right, I'm sure they are not Ropers. Beyond that, I haven't a clue. They enclose the backstrap, and have a palm swell.

Looks like it has been shortened. Compared to this one, the front sight base sits closer to the muzzle, and the crown is less rounded.

Your revolver is a K22 Outdoorsman 1st model and was made in the 1930's. The number on the butt and cylinder is the serial no. Number on the yoke is an assembly number used in the factory when it was made. The stocks that are on it are not original and are much newer than the gun. That's about...
