    Deer Huntin'

I have killed a deer with my SD40, slightly different than a sigma. It was actually a finishing shot. The deer was initially shot by a rifle. My shot was from about 5 yards, into the back of the deer's skull slightly below the ears. The 155gr. Gold Dot did not penetrate out the bottom side...

    SD or MP?

For the uses you mention, the SD would be perfect. I have one that goes bang every time I pull the trigger. So, to answer your question, if you pay more money for an M&P you will have a slightly lighter trigger pull, adjustable backstraps (I see no need to improve on the SD ergo's), and more...

    Hollow Point Suggestions?

I guess thats your opinion... Obviously not everybody agrees on the handload for SD issue, apparently you fall on the opposite side as I. I'd rather put my trust in opinions of such men as Ayoob.

    Hollow Point Suggestions?

exactly why I would not use +P+. I don't have any issues with using +P however, in limited amount. Practice with the cheap stuff, and throw the hot stuff through every now and then to make sure you can still hit what you need to!

    Hollow Point Suggestions?

It is generally not reccomended to reload your own self defense ammo, if thats what the OP's use would be. Many self defense experts point out the legal consequences doing so could have. These books really opened my eyes when I read them: The Concealed Handgun Manual - by Chris Bird; and Armed...

    Hollow Point Suggestions?

Speer GD 124g +P for 9mm Speer GD 155g for .40 I have had no problems with either. They are both noticibly hotter than standard FMJ ammo.

feed back needed on new SD line

I have the SD40. One of my mags rattles, the other one doesn't. It has not affected performance one bit, still have zero malfunctions. Congrats on your purchase! I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

    New SD vs. Sigma

Differences between the SD and the Sigma: SD has steel M&P sites, front one being a nite site SD has a standard rail for attachments SD comes w/ better, lighter trigger than Sigma SD comes in stainless w/ black melonite coating For the amount of money difference between the two, my opinion is...

    Holsters for SD9/40?

I have a leather Desantis thumbreak holster specifically made for the SD series. I have no experience with Kydex however. All of the nylon holsters I had for the Sigma fit my SD well also.

SD40 - lay it on me.

I agree with that 100%... just look at the number of threads on the BG380! I believe the SD series came out about the same time but has remained relatively anonymous online. Many people only post when they have problems or are looking for help. Most of the threads I can locate online about...

SD40 - lay it on me.

I have been very pleased with my SD40. I can't think of any features missing that would justify spending the extra cash to get an M&P. I have had zero malfunctions and have found the gun to be very accurate. I think this gun may be the best quality value gun out there! I had'nt heard that...

What best describes your views on the sigma?

I think the biggest bang for the buck award just got taken by the new SD series, so I had to go with "Good gun, very reliable".

Next Gun: ANOTHER Sigma OR SD9?

I voted SD! it's a great gun at a value price. The steel sights and better trigger make it worth the extra money over the Sigma.
