Elevation stud and new rear sight blade:

I'm not seeing (haven't had a chance to call S & W direct) a .106" kit for it on line. Until the part comes in, could it be filed down (the blade) to roughly the 1/10" of an inch? At work, so I can't measure it, but it looks like the blade would be .136" (per the seller: N frame...

Elevation stud and new rear sight blade:

Thought that was the case. I want to order all the parts at the same time.

Elevation stud and new rear sight blade:

Picked up the 625-2 (Model of 1989) today. It was missing the whole rear sight assembly. Found the proper length/screw whole replacement. However the replacement needs a rear elevation stud, and a correct height blade: 0.106. First question is: Are all the elevation studs the same...

686 no lock with moon clips in the local gun store..?

Thanks! Fortunately, I don't have the money for it anyway. Good points on things to look for...I'm betting I find a 686 somewhere down the road, but not right now.

686 no lock with moon clips in the local gun store..?

Thanks So cutting for moon clips doesn't effect using speedloaders, single rounds, ejection, etc?

686 no lock with moon clips in the local gun store..?

In the case is a 686 (no lock, firing pin on hammer) that has a bag of moon clips zip tied to it. (Also no rear sight...has a Tasco Pro Point on it). I've spent too much money lately on guns, so despite it looking to be in good shape ($800 though), I wouldn't be getting it. I think 4" bbl...

625-2 Needs a rear sight. What to look for?

Thanks for the help. I just ordered one on Ebay that has the proper measurements (except for the blade height). That will try to keep it more factory.

625-2 Needs a rear sight. What to look for?

Hit the store today and measured. Marked Model of 1989 Front of the sight assembly is squared off. 1.9" roughly hole to hole.

625-2 Needs a rear sight. What to look for?

I walked into the local gunstore and picked up a Vaquero .44mag (7 1/2", stainless). Out of curiosity, I asked about the Smith revolver hanging up (where the older/beater used guns normally go). Turns out it's a Smith 625-2. 5" full lug barrel. Firing pin on the hammer...for some reason I...

    6" 19-3 (Cracked Cone) with 4" replacement SPF>>>

I posted this on the local board (PA..I'm near Allentown) and figured I'd list it here also as board members here have been a big help. I'm listing the 19-3 with a cracked forcing cone (6") I got about a year ago. Nice shape overall, just has the cracked cone. I have a replacement 4" bbl...

617-1 at local store for $350...deal?

Ok, sounds like it's a good deal... I thought so too....I went in to see if they still had a Remington 700 in .243 (gone), and was wandering when I saw the 617. So (being that I had just picked up a rifle from them and have a pistol already on lay-a-way there), I was going to give them a...

617-1 at local store for $350...deal?

Local store (they are a bit high on new stuff, but used is pretty reasonable) has a 617-1 in the case for $420 (however, they have a special until the end of the week with 20% off used handguns). So, about $350 with PICS and Tax. Nice shape, has box. Not very much visible wear (4" bbl, 6...

    I'm Blaming everyone here.....

Yep, SIG (SIG, SIG-Sauer, SIGArms) fan also I used to have a pretty good collection--but sold them off. One of the benefits (among the many downfalls) of having and getting rid of a bunch of different guns is that you know what you like. I like SIGs in various flavors (Mosquito, GSR, 232...
