In the case is a 686 (no lock, firing pin on hammer) that has a bag of moon clips zip tied to it. (Also no rear sight...has a Tasco Pro Point on it).

I've spent too much money lately on guns, so despite it looking to be in good shape ($800 though), I wouldn't be getting it. I think 4" bbl (full lug).

However, the moon clips made me pause.

Does that mean you MUST (modified cylinder?) use Moon Clips with it?

Thanks for any info!

Thanks

So cutting for moon clips doesn't effect using speedloaders, single rounds, ejection, etc?

You could still single load ammo, and use speed loaders. You also would be able to eject the non moonclip rounds like normally.

I would pass the gun over just because it's been messed with. You have no idea what's been done on the inside, and 800 bucks is too high a gamble to find out.

The dot sight adds no value, and a missing rear sight would kind of piss me off at having to replace it.

A bag of moon clips and a red dot... I'd say that was someone's competition revolver. I would very carefully and thoroughly inspect it before parting with any money. It could have sloppy carry up/locking, excessive end shake and might an eroded barrel. I'm always leary of used competition guns.

Thanks!

Fortunately, I don't have the money for it anyway. Good points on things to look for...I'm betting I find a 686 somewhere down the road, but not right now.
