What has happened to QC at Smith and Wesson?

We get the quality that we are willing to pay for. We have taught manufactures that it is in their best interest to have very good quality and fixed the defects later rather than get it all right the first time. machines and AI work well,, but take little pride in their craftsmanship. Other gun manufacturers and industries are no different.

Speaking of messy QC, get a load of this guy's new Mountain Gun. Don't overlook the fact that someone still laser-engraved the L and arrow for the dreaded lock hole either. (Thankfully my new 686+ Mountain Gun was perfect with no defects to speak of.)

Look at the trademark situation.

Three months ago a friend ordered a Model 25 in .45 Colt. Right out of the box the cylinder wouldn’t turn. Tried pressing the latch to release the cylinder and no luck. It was shipped back through the FFL and it is still in S&W’s hands. He is very discouraged as we both own several Smiths manufactured from 1935 to the early 80’s and they are flawless is appearance and operation.
