How heavy is a sstock J frame hammer spring?

That's interesting. You would think the stock would be the heaviest one they have.

How heavy is a sstock J frame hammer spring?

Just curious, I may buy some lighter weight springs to see how it responds. Wolff sells a three pack of 8, 8.5, and 9 pound springs, but what is the stock weight for a J frame?

How can the different springs affect trigger pull/feel?

I read on a youtube description that the rebound spring has no affect upon how hard the hammer strikes. Is that correct?

How can the different springs affect trigger pull/feel?

The two primary springs I'm thinking of are the mainspring and the rebound spring. How do they differ in how they affect the feel and pull of a trigger? Have some of you opted to only change one or the other only?

Stock trigger weight versus typical trigger job weight?

Just curious, how many pounds is a typical S&W trigger from a late 80's Model 36? And if one were to do a trigger job to lighten it, how far would a typical smith lower the weight?

Light strike or hard primer? What do you think?

Oh, and the ammo is Underwood which has always been very good for me, so I'm actually leaning towards light strike and am planning to bring the revolver back to the smith.

Light strike or hard primer? What do you think?

This model 36 lady smith revolver is new to me. It had a bit of an issue with the release and since I was going to the smith anyway, I thought I'd get a double-action trigger job done on it. After the trigger job, I finally got to shoot the thing and I had 2 out of 5 that did not ignite. If...

Is a model 36 drop safe?

I found a good video explaining all the safety features of S&W revolvers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9ixC34PaKk

Is a model 36 drop safe?

At the 5:50 mark he talks about a transfer bar, but my model 36 has the firing pin built into the hammer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldHPNnsp-cs Mine doesn't look like that at all.

Is a model 36 drop safe?

Thanks for the heads up. Can someone explain how the transfer bar works to keep it from firing when dropped?

Is a model 36 drop safe?

Just curious about this. I've heard only older revolver designs could possibly go off if dropped on the hammer, but don't know for sure. Does the model 36 have any design feature that would make it safe if it was dropped?

Why not an all steel 642?

Is the one on the bottom left a model 60?
