Why is the Flight or Fight response to imminent danger important in self defense?

agree with jlrhiner, I've found that those who were in the s#!) don't talk bout being in the... conditioned reflex is the key, after that it's just genetics.

    PLEASE MEET "SARAH"

new to this thread, so cool to see Sarah get big - I know she'll be a great companion (aren't they all?). I've never been without a dog, and always have loved the working/hunting breeds. Best to you --

    Favorite whiskey?

your first clue should be that you spelled whiskey with an "E" as you should :D although I can appreciate bourbon and some others, for me, there's nothing like The Tyrconnell. If you have to use ice or a mixer, then it doesn't matter what you're drinking - the ice destroys the aromatics of the...

    Whiskey Before Bed?

like most folks here, I urge being prudent - but working a day/swing/grave rotating shift has given me the same issues you're talking of. Although sipping a shot before bed helps me, I think it's more due to the routine and "power down" aspect than the alcohol. I'm not using the knockout...

    R.I.P. - Earl Scruggs

I'm a fan of anyone who is great at their craft, and Scruggs was one of the greatest in his field - he redefined what is Bluegrass and made an example that young musicians still try to live up to. There never be another like that...

aah, CTG=cartridge, seems so obvious now. I was looking for "32" while I looked through the other threads, I'm sure I just skipped that info if it was associated with the other caliber's - thanks.

1970-Cub Scouts, then Webeloes/Boy Scouts, but no Eagle; Life + everything but the service project. got sidetracked having fun as counselor/SPL (4wks summer camp for each of 4yrs was great; spent a few hours at the range too)... went on to asst.Scoutmaster. Great program, needs good leaders.

    new member AL/TN

from AL but residing in TN, I'll most likely return to AL after I retire. My uncle recently passed away, and I came here looking for info. He was a retired police captain, and left me a small collection of revolvers and long guns (17 pistols). Apart from a few WW2 items, the bulk of his...
