    40S&W Ammo To Become Obsolete

While I have been a 9mm guy since the days most cops carried .38’s, I couldn’t resist the cheap police surplus .40’s. Pre-plandemic, I ordered a Glock 22 Gen4. When it showed up at the FFL, it looked about 98% new… even came with night sights. I like Glocks, so I’m used to shooting them...

Is the 40 S&W a must have cartridge?

I've been a 9mm fan since before there was a 10mm, or a .40. But the deals on 40's couldn't be ignored, so I bought a Gen4 G22. Described by the vender as "very good", it turned out to be like new. Not bad, for $319, including night sights. At the range, I found it shot about the same as my...

Is the 40 S&W, by nature, a snappy round?

I've ways been a 9mm guy, with no interest in the .40. But, I like Glocks, and the bargain police surplus pistol prices were irresistible... So, I now own a like new Gen4 G22. $300, with good night sights. I've only had it to the range once, but I didn't find it snappy at all. In fact, it felt...

Which 9mm load duplicates the performance of .40 S&W/.45 ACP?

I'm glad to see the rest of the universe has caught up with me, by going to the 9mm... After all, I've been carrying it since before there was a 10mm, or even a 40. However, I couldn't resist the cheap police surplus 40's, and bought a like new G22 Gen4, complete with night sights, for a very...

Opinions on fiocchi 357 158gr jhp or their ammo in general

I’ve shot their truncated cone fmj 357 mag load, and it seemed pretty accurate in my 3” GP100. In general though, my favorite all around shooting 357 factory load is the American Eagle 158gn soft point. I could use that load for anything from fun to serious.

What is wrong with the 40 S&W?

Been a fan of 9mm for a long time. My father was a WWII veteran and seemed to have plenty of respect for the 9mm, as did veteran Uncles. In fact, it wasn’t until the cult of Jeff Cooper took over that the 9mm was looked upon with disdain...even the US Military wanted to go 9mm after the war. My...

    Wadcutters for self defense

Circa 1973, the front lawn of my high school was like a mini-Woodstock most days. One day, a big fight started, and police were called to quickly put a stop to it. There was some hands on wrasslin involved. In any case, as I left school that day, I walked across the lawn where the fight was, and...

Winchester Personal Protection .357 Magnum 158 gr JHP

125gn is my bottom line in 357. My Walmart sells the Remington 125gn SJHP for about $35/100.

Military .38 Spl. Shoot it or sell it to a collector?

The boxes do say WCC on them.

    Winchester 145 Grain Silvertips

I’d be interested in hearing others impressions of the new run of 357 Silvertip. I bought two boxes, after not having seen any for years. I was shooting my 3” GP100 at 25yds. Seemed like I was all over the paper. Now, this GP has proven pretty accurate, so I switched to a cylinder of Hornady...

    My new to me 15-3

Back during the big police revolver sell off days, I had decided to buy a Model 10 at the next gun show. While browsing the tables, I found this 38 with adjustable sights, for $175. It’s a 15-3, has a red insert front (which currently needs a new insert), and has the trigger stop. I had no idea...

    .380 Self-Defense Ammo

A couple years ago, I bought an Israeli surplus Beretta 84F. I got it for a plinker, because I had wanted one since I was young, and the price was low. I never considered it as a serious use pistol. Then, when I shot it, I found it fit my hand extremely well, so it pointed like a finger. I also...
