    Adjusting trigger pull on 442

I installed an Apex trigger kit on my 642 and it seems to have reduced the trigger pull weight by 25% or so

Model 64 with Factory DAO Job

I have a 64-5 NY-1 that came that way. Allegedly made for the NYPD and some armored car companies.

I have some question regarding the 686's

Just ordered a 5" TALO 686+ myself, similar logic to the OP - couldn't decide between 4" and 6" so 5" seemed like a good compromise. It's not here yet, but hoping for a phone call from my FFL any day now. This is my first L frame, too. Did I read that right that round butt K frame grips will...

New Female on board needs a lot of help!

Just noticed the dates on this thread! Hope you enjoy the 64-4. I have a 64-5 that's one of my favorite guns to shoot. Excellent gun in my opinion, no goofy bells and whistles to screw up under stress!

New Female on board needs a lot of help!

I second the advice about finding a class that will allow you to try out a few models before you purchase. The Smith & Wesson J frames might be a bit snappy in your hands until you're used to shooting. K frames are a bit bigger, but more comfortable to shoot. Id go with comfort for your first...

    New 642 without the lock

Bought a 642-1 about two weeks ago as a carry piece (my full size 1911 is too much for the summer in Arizona...) and I love it. I've only taken it out once, put about 100 rounds of WWB and Hornady Critical Defense +P through it and they both felt fine. Actually I couldn't tell much difference in...

K frame vs J frame trigger pull

Shooter686, I should have held on to my 5906 long enough to measure it... If this J frame is anything close to 11 pounds, the 5906 must have been 20 on DA. I know it's subjective without a scale, but that trigger was HEAVY. I've only dry-fired the new 642 a couple dozen times (picked it up at...

K frame vs J frame trigger pull

Picked up my 642-1 today. I was worried for nothing, this gun is awesome. Trigger pull is similar to the 64-5. Different geometry of course, but not noticeably heavier. Couldn't be happier!

K frame vs J frame trigger pull

Thanks for the great advice! My 64 is so worn in I think it would be hard to beat, but if I can replace a few springs in a J frame and have the trigger weight be within 20-30% of it I'd be happy. Glad to hear it's possible.

K frame vs J frame trigger pull

Sorry if this has been answered before, I tried a search but got a lot of extraneous results... Can anyone describe the differences between DA trigger pulls on K and J frames? I have a police trade in 64-5 (K frame 38) that I would guess is in the 6-8 pound range, which is consistent the whole...

Just got a 5906 from them last month. It arrived as advertised, I'm satisfied.
