I have a picture of it but I'm not comfortable putting it on line without his consent.

Gentlemen, A near local gun shop has a TL for sale. It's been in his case for a year now. Condition looks original finish at about 60%. No pitting, bore is shiny. It has a lot of honest wear but no visible abuse. Numbers match, and it retains the yoke spring. Grips are pre war magna style so...

    Pretty Outdoorsman of 1950

I think this shipped in late 55. It wouldn't be stretch for an owner to wait just a bit to replace them in 56. In any case either one isn't the ones shipped.

I've never shot this one, too pretty to increase the cylinder ring on it. I do shoot my blue worn pre war HD and OD though!

    Pretty Outdoorsman of 1950

I picked this beauty up from an auction a few years ago. It was cataloged as an pre M27. It flew under the radar. Serial # 146xxx puts it probably late 1955. The last of the 5 screws. Unnumbered target grips but period correct upgrade. Not reamed to .357. I love these beautiful N frames

For those age 60 or under (Gen X or later generations…)

I'm a month away from 60. I have a pre war HD, McGivern OD (waiting for the letter to confirm!) and 1917. I'd have to say I'm interested in any nice S&W wheel gun with a pinned barrel.

    Is this a grail Outdoorsman?

Yes, it was in an auction is SoCal, in May of last year. I was bidding in house, and I remember someone was bidding on line.

I'm curious, what tell tale clue are you looking for?

    Is this a grail Outdoorsman?

There is an "S" stamped on the left grip frame near the grip anchor pin. On the right there is a "B" stamped near the tie of the grip frame. I've used a loupe and did not find any other markings. I can't see anything that would suggest that this isn't factory original, other than the grips. The...

    Is this a grail Outdoorsman?

Sorry for the delay Gentlemen. Serial numbers match, frame, barrel and cylinder. There is a small "B" within the ejector rod recess on the barrel. If I remember right, there's a "B" on one side of the grip frame, and a "E" on the other. Both hidden by the replacement grips. Both front and back...

    Is this a grail Outdoorsman?

Hello, I'm new in joining the forum but not reading it. Last year I was the winning bid on this pre war Outdooorsman. It was listed as an HD. I poured over the listed photos, and I was convinced that it was obviously not an HD but a McGivern Outdoorsman. Being mislabeled it didn't receive much...
