I thought about it, but I was hoping to find something that was heavier duty. I didn't much care for the idea of mounting 3-4 scope rings. I was hoping 2 of something else would get the job done.

Perhaps the 642's you see are pocket carried more than the 37's? That constant sweat and friction will put a lot of wear on the finish.
