I just got a 629-4 from a forum member, and I'm gonna be putting a scope on it soon and use it deer hunting this year.

The only problem is that I have next to no experience with scopes and accessories, and know nothing about them.

I bought a Weigand scope mount that should be here later this week.

I plan on putting a Leupold FX-II scope on it.

What kind of rings should I use for this? That's the only thing I couldn't find much info about with my Google-Fu.
And I'm not looking to skimp. I want something that's been proven reliable by many people before me.

When you bought the Weigand mount you should have just ordered his magnum rings. I use them on my S&W 500 and the work very well.

I thought about it, but I was hoping to find something that was heavier duty. I didn't much care for the idea of mounting 3-4 scope rings. I was hoping 2 of something else would get the job done.

Warne steel permanent rings I feel are thee best for your weigand mount. Do not use the quick release ones, I have not had good luck with those on the larger calibers. Two permanent Warne rings is all you will ever need. 25 inch pounds on all screws and it will not ever move.

Lee has made an excellent suggestion. I have several, heavy recoiling handguns, and you can hardly do better than Warne Steel Rings.

Handguns, being much lighter in weight and much shorter than rifles require MUCH better scope mounts for the same security. The recoil velocity is SERIOUS with these pieces. However, the Weigand mount base uses the frame of the revolver (where the sight used to be) as a secure recoil lug. The Weaver design is quite rugged and with good steel rings, you should be "GOOD TO GO".
