I aquired 450 rounds of LC 7.62x51. Real grungy.. Ran all in my vibratory cleaner. Came out much cleaner. I've run 300 through my gun so far, no issues. I've cleaned many different calibers this way. Never caused any issues.

I have a 686-2, the revision was for the hammer nose and bushing M mod. Introduced 1987. I don't have the box for mine but I do have the original dated grips. June 1987. Ser# BAS 8386. The OPs would be earlier '87

Did you read the OP. S&W cut the forcing cone. "Repair yoke" sounds like cylinder wasn't quite lined up with barrel. I don't see where they corrected a timing issue.

They are easy ro use and handy to have.

5.56x45 is ok, but my choice is 7.62x51.

38 super is .356, I'm sure.355 work but not optimal.

As you say, modern gun. You don't mention a powder so just don't go over max. load data.

Take an ice cube cool sideplate, hit a bit harded. Warm gun and cool plate to put it back together if it's really that tight.
