Interesting. According to wiki, Parker-Hale LLC was a good sized gun and gun parts maker in Birmingham's gun quarter started in 1880.

Okay. For all I knew, Parker & Hale was popular in England in the 50s, like franzite here.

I have somebody looking for a value on this gun. Any ideas? Has anyone seen one of these sights? It says Parker & Hale, England, on it. Gun is a .38 S&W with a V serial. I'm guessing this is a .38/200 British from WWII that they shortened the barrel on and added these sights? Of course the...

Yes, barrel says 38 S&W SPECIAL CTG and SMITH & WESSON.

And the yoke number? 336664

No number behind extractor star, just "machining marks".

Ah, ha! Number on yoke visible through charge hole is 336664. Hmm, so does that mean serial is C336664? That would make it, what, 1955? So, what should I tell the owner to do?

Yea, no model number. I wasn't familiar with the short ramp though. When was that used? Please see photo of hammer in post above. I thought that hammer started pre 1950.
