Hey everyone. Bought a new model 69 with the 2.75 inch barrel. Been real happy with it so far. No issues at all. Was working on some reloads and was adjusting the sights and got to wondering if anyone has changed the sights on this baby yet. I have the Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight on...
Thanks for the info guys. Called S&W today and they're sending me out a new recoil/guiderod assembly asap no questions asked. Not that big a deal just a little annoying. Like I said I'm pretty happy with it so I have no real complaints. Now if this happens on a regular basis then I'll be pissed...
Finally picked up my shield 45. Gave it a good clean and lube and took it to the range Saturday. For a cheap gun it was pretty damn good. Trigger a little heavy. Feels a little lke pulling it througn the mud but not too bad. I'm just used to some really sweet triggers. It's fine for a carry gun...
I just bought a new Shield 45 and am patiently waiting to pick it up (gotta love NY). Quick question now is how do I know if I have the older problematic followers or the new ones? Other than this one possible issue I've heard lots of good things about the Shield 45s. Fondling one at the range...
I think my eyes are just playing tricks on me. Some of the 3" models look like they have a fullsize ejector rod while some look like they have a shorter rod like you'd find on a snubbie. So I was just wondering if they were offered both ways. But regardless they are sweet looking revolvers.
These 3" 629s are gorgeous. Thanks for all this information on them. I have a 5" classic and I am always on the lookout for a 3". Quick questiion - did the 629 come with a 3" underlug barrel, unfluted cylinder, and full length ejection rod? I could have sworn I saw one in the classified section...
Saw a sweet 460 xvr at the range recently and have been kind of obsessing about it. 3.5 barrel and looked real nice. Quick question for the pros here: were any of these made before the IL? Both of my other smiths are pre-lock and would look for that first. But this one might be nice to own...
Thank you for the advice folks. I think resetting everything back to factory specs is the most logical first step. If that eliminates the issue then I can start tinkering with springs from there. I really appreciate the help guys. And aside from the light strikes I can say that the 686-4 is one...
Howdy everyone. I posted a while back about a beautiful 686-4 that I had acquired. It has a very sweet trigger and came with an assortment of strain screws so I'm sure the previous owner had done work to it. Since I was getting light strikes pretty frequently I had S&W send me the factory strain...
I've been shooting semi autos most of my life. My first revolver purchase was a 629-5 with 5" barrel. It was really my grail gun. I had wanted one basically my whole adult life and I couldn't be happier with it. I also am kind of a recoil junkie so that doesn't bother me. But I recently picked...
Hey guys new member here. I've been lurking in the background and learning as much as I can here. Lots of information here. Mainly a Sig shooter but love s&w revolvers. Have a 629 classic already and just picked up a 686-4 in 4". It's a beauty. Took a while to find but I'm real happy. Only thing...
