While shooting a postal Internet match for .22 rimfires at 25yrds, I dragged along my 629 snubby since I had some extra rounds of .44mag laying around.

The ammo was 13 rounds of Magtech 240gr jsp and 6 rounds of HSM 'Bear Loads'- basically a medium velocity 300gr jsp. These chrono'd just under 1100fps from a 7.5" Ruger SBH, so I'd expect along the lines of 900fps in this 3" N frame. I'm okay with that since trying to stick nice groups offhand at 25yrds is easier with the rimfires than the .44mag snubby without getting the tremors and flinch going pretty quick.
The HSM felt noticeably milder than the Magtechs.
The middle group was shot using the MT ammo and a 6 'O clock hold on the top bull. Shots went between the stickers, so I kept that hold for seven shots. Second group, I held 12:00 top sticker and as before they went pretty much right on POA.
I used a 6:00 hold again on the bottom sticker with the heavier HSM loads, wanting to keep the groups apart...which worked, though the 300gr slugs did go slightly above POA as I figured.
I was happy to get those groups, though the gun is good for quite better, despite being a snubby.

It has good weight and balance, plus an outstanding SA trigger. The DA trigger is only bested by one of my DAO K frames...though I didn't use it here today.

Good shooting. Beautiful 629. A 3" is on my list to purchase if I ever come across a reasonably priced -4 or -5. I have the 5" -5 classic and love it.
