Well Bubba had to do some work. The action was so raw and unused I had to work on it a bit. I tried wearing in the action manually and that did help some but not enough. The single action was fine but the double action was rough. Also moving the thumb piece was difficult and gritty.
I was surprised how oily it was inside. Pretty clean oil but I doubt it came from the factory that wet. All screw heads looked perfect but the endshake screw was loose.
I polished and deburred the center pin where appropriate. Deburred the extractor a little where the center pin passes. I also deburred and polished the bolt some. Finally, I deburred the extractor star and polished the ratchet sides just a bit. Much better but it still doesn't feel broken in. I certainly didn't go at all heavy on my bubba work. I may revisit it after it has truly been broken in some.
I suppose I'm spoiled by my old 629-1 that's had a bazillion rounds through it. It's actually kinda tired, but boy is it slick.
Before it got too dark I went out back and popped off 6 rounds into the woodpile. OK, the sights are at least close because from about 15 yards I hit the milk carton and empty pill bottle (metformin). More importantly I think the wide serrated trigger is going to have to go. Granted they were fairly hot handloads but I suspect if I'd fired as few as 20 or so my finger would have been bleeding. So I guess I need a wide stainless smooth trigger assembly.
