I'm taking a second shot at potassium nitrate bluing and I have a question. After bluing at somewhere around 600 degrees, is it unwise to rinse in cold water? I fear metal warpage from the extreme temperature swing. Its going to be a 1911.

I have quite a few 22s, and I don't think this gun suffers more than the average in duds and misfires. I just strive to make things a tiny bit better. Its just my thing. Polishing a few things, maybe some Wolff springs, a good stoning.

I just bought a 2206. It was dirty, but otherwise looked ok mechanically. Went shooting today, and got failures to extract at least 7 per magazine. I closely inspected the extractor, the hook seems to be in good shape, it is clean under the hook, and seems to have plenty of spring tension. I...
