    Price check on M 41

I was at a LGS today and found a M 41, "A" prefix from 1970. It had a 7 3/8 inch barrel with the compensator and a 5.5 inch also. Two mags. It had been shot a bit, but appeared to be in about 90% condition. They were asking $979. This seems to be a fair deal, but I'm interested in hearing your...

    Grip screw for old M & P

I bought a set of grips for my K frame M & P Model of 1905 - 4th change (manuf. 1917) from a S & W Forum member, but found the new grips are much narrower than magna grips. I need a shorter grip screw. Or should I try to shorten a newer screw? Any help would be appreciated.

    M 38 serial prefix

Is anyone aware of the date of manufacture of a M 38 Airweight Bodyguard with a serial number of "abaxxxx"? The SCSW says a "J" prefix was started in 1969 and that a three letter prefix followed by a four digit number was used beginning in 1980. The table seems to say an "aba" prefix would...

    M & P oldie

Oldie M & P -- now with photos Thanks for the help with pics and with history of the M&P. I bought it believing it was from the 1930s, so I was surprised to see how it dated in the SCSW. These show the "fouling cup" on the underside of the top strap just above the forcing cone.

    M & P oldie

I found an old M & P at a gun show a few weeks ago. The serial number (265XXX) dates it to around 1916 or so, only a year after the Fourth Change began. The stocks look so good, I think they may be replacements. Amazingly, the bluing is about 80 to 85%, so it's been carefully preserved. But it...
