Nice piece. I also think that S&W missed the beat when they did not offer a 5" variant of the 19 or even the 13, a long mid weight 5" barrel on a 13 would have been sweet.
I had one, it was heavy, I bought a 940 cylinder and had that installed in a 642, the best of both worlds. If S&W can make a 340 in 357 it would work in 9mm.
I was the one who did the cut down of the 586, I did it with a small bench grinder. It took a few hours to grind it off. Next time I would have a metal shop band saw it and then grind to fit. It looks like S&W redid the front of the underlug to match a typical S&W look.

I see it as a $250 gun. It is finish challenged yet mechanically looks good, I couldn't really tell unless I physically handled it. There is some wear on the grips, but nothing terribly bad. The screws do not look buggered, so it might not have been opened. It is built prior to the S&W heat...
