I installed just the Apex hard sear into my Shield 9mm today. Major improvement in trigger feel. Break is much (maybe 2 pounds) lighter and is a predictable break. Very glad I did it. Sear cost me about $36 at Brownells.
XS Big Dot makes two variants for the pinned J-frame such as the 340PD. If you currently have the red ramp, you're good to just order the sight for $50 online. If you currently have the HI-VIZ sight, the sight channel for the tenor is too long for the XS sight tenor and you will have a 1/4"...
XS customer service told me they only make one size for the J frame, and its the one I have. Bottom line is if you have a 340PD with the HIVIZ sight and want to upgrade to an XS Big Dot, your going to have to accept the gap or fill it with something. I'm in the process of cutting up the old...
OK, so putting the replies together it seems that there are at least two tenor length models of XS sights for the S&W pinned sight J-frames.

I have owned both -- the 340PD weighs 15% less than the M&P340. They both have pinned sights so it is easy to install the sight of your preference (most 340PD's come w/ HI-VIZ and I believe most M&P340's come with XS night sights).
I prefer the 340PD as the weight difference is quite noticible...
I'm installing a XS Big Dot on my S&W 340PD (part # RV-001N-3). As you can see in the pic below –– the tenon on the XS sight is way way shorter in length than the factory HI-VIZ sight and there is a large amount of open gutter left.
