I have never removed my PRO when cleaning my rifle. The only thing I would be worried about is getting some CLP on the lenses but the covers pretty much do a good job of keeping everything out when they are snapped shut.

Yeah there are a lot of bad reviews about it. Mine has been trouble free and I can hit the bullseye at 7yds and my wife keeps it center mast at same distance. The grip was really the only thing I disliked but Hogue finally made a replacement that works great.
I like the color. I bought my wife one last year and its been good to go. The only thing we didn't like was the grip so I replaced it with a Hogue grip and it feels so much better. I painted the front sight pink to match the grips.
I would call customer service. I picked one up a few months ago and have a few hundred rounds down range with no problems. I bought it for my girl and she shot it fairly well and this was her second time shooting a gun. I was hitting bullseyes at 7 yards no problem.
