Trying to decide on optics for my AR-15

I have been looking at the Aimpoint Pro and the Buris TRS 25 as well as an Eotech. I am liking what I see on the Aimpoint Pro. I am looking at close range to maybe 200yds. I have also lookied at scopes from Nikon such as the M-223 1-4x20 Point Blank Reticle and their 3-9 also. I think that I am leaning toward the Aimpoint Pro for now and maybe a scope later on.

I run an EoTech 517 on my m&p15. While it's a great optic I'll be moving to a scope due to the fact I have an astigmatism so the brighter I have my sight turned up the more blurry it gets.

And this is exactly WHY if you get a holo / red dot optic you want a quality unit. The glare off a cheaper brand will be brighter, with less adjustability, and just plain 'ole more glare to deal with.
With a red dot optic, less really is more. A smaller dot, and the ability to go as dim as the daylight at 5am makes a huge difference.

If you like variable power scopes, you cannot go wrong with an American-made Leupold VX-1 3X9X40 scope, $229 at Midway (free shipping).

Exactly right and the similarly high quality Redfield Revenge 3X9X42 Battlezone is an incredible glass for the money, nice and bright, good light gathering, and outstanding reticle with good eye relief,....... right at $200 at Optics Planet, also comes with lifetime warranty. billy magg

A Redfield revenge 3-9 is what I'm using now actually. Picked up and looked through a number of scopes including many that were much more expensive and the redfield gave me the fastest crosshair aquisition and focus by far. Other scopes where "a little" brighter but for me being able to raise the rifle and aquire quickly was paramount. Paid right about $200 I believe. Originally bought it for my 30-06 but as it only gets used couple months out of the year buying quick detach mounts and swapping it was a no brainer.
