I started with a K-frame; over the years have picked up everything except M&Z, and now I'm planning to sell off everything that isn't K or L for more Ks & Ls. But I have to say I've never seen a 586 I didn't want.

New: blued 617, call it the "517" if you will - 10rd .22lr in 4" and 6" Old: revive the 4" 586+ they ran in 2005, and 3" 581.

I sent them an email before I posted here, hadn't heard back so I figured I'd ask the good folks here. Apex no longer advertises sales of SHB or modification of SHB, and all of their parts require the post-2010 SHB. If they have a solution for older m&ps it's not advertised.

I just clicked through Apex again, and all of their kits require the 2011 or newer production sear housing blocks. So is all that's left is a Burwell job, or send it to a 'smith? I've got the tools and wherewithal to replace parts, but I'm not certain about file cutting and polishing.

Was about to purchase the Apex FSS kit for an m&p45fs, read the note about needing the new sear housing block as mine is a 2007 model with the 1/16" sear/plunger. Can't find a SHB anywhere! I had a DCAEK kit I sold off thinking the FSS was the best option. If I scrap the APEX FSS option on this...

I acquired a 586 LEO turn in that is the smoothest action I've ever had that hadn't been worked over ... and I love the balance of the 4". I also had a newer 586+ 2005 edition, which made a nice gift to my daughter when she graduated from the academy. I think the 586 is the quintessential 357...

That's a tough one; while it may be serialized to match, etc. Its a piece of junk case from the get go. When the locking mechanism is the primary point of failure, the utility of the case is marginal. I'll probably hang on to it until I get tired of looking at it.
