I have come to you learned shooters with a question.
I wish to build an all around 45 auto.
The gun will be used for, CCW/HD- open carry in the field- with light,
medium, heavy,+p and +p+/super[factory loads
and be matched up with a 25/325/625 revolver.
Weight is important, size-some.
Can I mod or change a compact to do all or just go with a full size?
Please explain with your choice , no other cartridges will be considered.
I got that covered.
The 45acp choice is due to needing to buy shells[ yes I reload for
range shooting and hunting but this will be a BOB type of gun.

Sig Sauer 1911, Sig Model: 1911CA-45-BSS. Commander size.
Sig Sauer 1911CAR-45-SCPN "Scorpion Carry."

Both as tough as an Abrams M1 tank; not the lightest, but the size makes them easy carry. With the right holster I can go all day with them, though I like my S&W PC1911RB a little better for an all-steel CCW 1911-pattern gun.

The Springfield Champion Light Weight pictured is a terrific gun. The lighter weight may be a factor with the hot ammo you want to use, especially +P+. To be blunt, I don't really understand why you'd want to use that kind of .45ACP ammo in a 1911.

For that extra power your 25/625 can fire real hammers. Check out Buffalo Bore ammo, or John Taffin for some hot, but within SAAMI limits, hand loads.
A Hornady 300 XTP bullet with 17 grains of AA#9 will give you about 900fps from the 4" 625 and Taffin says it'll go through about any animal you aim it at. Up the powder to 18.5 grains, Taffin says, yields 1018fps. I can tell you it hurts to shoot from the 625. I loaded up 10, shot 6 and disassembled the rest.

.45-Colt 625 Mountain Gun has the Miculek grips, at top. The other two are .44 Magnum.
Check out Taffin's loads of the 255-gr Bull-X bullets with 20 grains of H4227 at 900 - 1000 fps for some loads that are a lot easier on you and your gun, and are still going to drill any dangerous game you're likely to encounter in the lower 48.

If you go to a 6" Model 25 you'll pick up 50 fps or so. In my 6" barreled 25-5 I can hit 8" targets off-hand at 100 yards, open sights.

The +p+/super loading "could" be used in both "in a pinch".
Can't carry a lot of shells that are unique to one gun.
Some heavy AR for the revolver, Super or hot +p for both,
Ball or Hp of the same weight and speed for everything else.
Weight and size of gun and ammo, what "can "it do.
What can I buy and where, are considerations.

Another thought for a "hot .45ACP."
I have a friend who builds .460 Rowland guns on full-size 1911 frames. It's a hammer, too, and the frame and slide can handle the power.
Don't know if you can get a 25/625 modified for that, but maybe a 29/629 frame with custom cylinder and barrel. Probably $$$.
Not personally a fan of .45ACP in a revolver solely because I find speed loaders or moon clips to be a pain to carry. The concept, though, is terrific and I think you may be on the right track with Auto Rim. I have a box of 100 AR shells but haven't loaded them because I have nothing to shoot them in!
Still think your nuts for thinking +P+ ;-)

You didn't specify some things.

Weight is important. What are you looking for?

What do you mean can you mod a compact to do everything? Compacts just as easily fill the HD/CCW role.

what do you mean build? From scratch or mod? From scratch. ...only a 1911.

If I had to pick only one gun for everything it would be the HK45. Rated for 45 super, doesn't need any rebuilds until the first 100k rounds.

The revolver can easily handle 45 super and at least one big time
smith will rechamber to 460 rolland so no problems there.
The +p+/45super/450smc is to be a special purpose/limited use round,
that "can" be used in both but mostly in the revolver.
With 1/3rd moon clips revolver can be loaded and loads carried easily.
This is a pair that I can use "any" 45acp ammo I can Find./

Glock 30S
with 9 round mag compact
10 round mag sub compact
13 round mag full size

Handles plus p plus
easy to ccw

A great gun

Love my M&P 45 Midsize. Carry it all over in a Don Hume open top holster and it conceals well. Handles +P loads, and is as accurate as I can shoot it. 10 rd. Mags. Lot of firepower in a nice package. It also handles my reloads and eats them up...Won't break the bank to buy one. I have been wanting a nice 1911, and just can't spend the money the way this shoots.

I believe the M&P45 is not rated for +P ... per the manual ... which is what the OP says he's looking for. I'm guessing that rules out Glock and XD as well, but I don't know for certain. Sig says their P220 will take +P, but not a steady diet - no +P+. CZ97B is same as Sig. So it sounds like to get what he's after, its gonna be a 1911, commander size given he wants it CCW. S&W, Sig, Colt, Ruger, SA ... were it me I might take a look at the SA RO Compact with the 4" bull barrel if I were planning to shoot a lot of +P ammo.

I'm pretty "old school" when it comes to firearms/cartridges in general.

I don't shoot +p or +p+ ammo in a "standard" cartridge gun. If you need magnum type performance, then get a magnum firearm such as 44 magnum or 500 S&W magnum.

I have a Ruger SR1911 FS and an M&P 45 FS. I enjoy shooting these guns, as well as my Model 10 38 special and my 3 9mm's. If I thought I needed more horsepower/performance, I would step up to a magnum cartridge. With all the choices in standard ammo, I don't see a need (for me) to step up to +p or +p+.

Hope you find something that works for you. IMO, the 45 acp wasn't meant to be a 45 short magnum, nor was the 45 colt meant to be magnumized either, but that doesn't stop some folks from trying. Just be careful and stay safe. :-)

A friend at my local range shoots a HK 45 USP. I know the factory states it can handle 45 super. The Case head support on his gun was not what I was expecting. We field strip both our guns, pulled the barrels and compared (mine was a FNX 45). The FN Barrel had better chamber support than his HK. I was surprised how much more it had. Now I know there's more than just that issue, but still, I wasn't impressed.
