    It aint looking good

Minot is flooded, I'm dry where I live but a quarter of the city is having their houses flooded out. My daughter lost her house, water is up to the eves. My work location has been evacuated and we're set up in a temporary location so I'm luckier than most. I have my house and I have my job...

2011...What are you going to give up(quit)..

From a pack and a half a day, I'm down to that in a week. Might just manage to give it up completly for 2011 with the help of electronic cigarettes. Yeah I'm still getting the nicotine, but none of the tar and smoke, morning cough is gone.

    Thanks Blue Cross

My BC/BS premiums didn't go up. Come the 1st of the year though, my deductibles, copays and cost shares do. This was to avoid being concidered a "Cadilac" plan and get taxed to high heck. I voted against every incumbent that was running this year. A few years ago Congress passed and President...

Pistol-caliber lever guns: most fun for the buck?

The first rifle I ever hunted deer with was a Winchester 30-30 and I've been in love with the lever action ever since. In pistol calibers I have a Marlin 1894c in 357 mag and a Henry H001 in 22lr. The wife has a Marlin 1894css in 357 mag. When I carry my 1894c, it's companion piece is a Ruger...

House burnt down as firemen watch?

If a mutual aid agreement is not in place with other jurisdictions, there is no requirement to respond. In fact depending upon how the fire fighters worker's comp/life insurance is written, they may not be covered if they get hurt outside of their jurisdiction and mutual aid areas. Try...

House burnt down as firemen watch?

This has happened since Ben Franklin started the first US fire department. People who bought fire insurance had a plaque mounted on their house, if your house didn't have the plaque it was allowed to burn. Did the man previously pay? Was this the first year he forgot to pay? How late had he...

Train Buffs (Real and Model): ID this Car

Chesapeake and Ohio Automobile carrier is what it looks like to me. HO gauge? A little hard to tell for sure but thats my best guess.

    Ban Smoking

If it's so god awful and evil ban it completely. No growing, no harvesting, no manufacturing, no shipping, no sales, no smoking and not a single penny of taxes from any of those activities. While we're at it, lets ban driving fuel burning vehicles and shut down all those drive through windows...

    An urban protection rifle

    My rifles consist of a Winchester 94in 30-30, Marlin 336xlr 30-30, a Henry H001 22lr and a Marlin 94c 357 mag. I don't own any other rifles, haven't seen the need.

    Free Gun Or Proactive Manufacturer

Since when is a PO box legit? Shipping to an FFL is to the listed address on the license which is always the physical address. (Might be different for shipping to a gunsmith for repairs but doubt it) When I buy something online and the shipping is through UPS or FEDEX there is always a...

Do you wear camo when hunting

I use my old desert camoflague uniforms (DCU's) The pattern is perfect for sitting in tall grass all through archery season. I also use them during rifle season when blaze orange is required only because they are kept in a scent block bag. The orange hat and vest just stay in the bottom of the...

    Favorite 22LR Rifle?

For plinking and for kids...the Henry H001. Inexpensive, smooth action and very accurate. I bought it as an understudy/practice gun for my 30-30's. It really depends on how big the child is though, find a rifle thats suitable for their size so they can get the basics down.

    update on recovery

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. I'm doing better, pain has subsided to a dull ache unless I cough or sneeze. My cousin Bobby is out of intensive care and the dr's had him up and around. No sign of brain damage, so it's a matter of the body healing now. He's got full feeling in...

Just when you think you have it bad

I spent Friday in the ER and was admitted and released on Sunday. So here I was feeling sorry for myself for having a compression fracture in my 12th Thoracic vertabrae. Hurt like hell, am wearing a two piece back brace. I finaly clear from the pain and percoset fog and call my mother to let...
