    10-5 snub

I think a k/l frame fixed sight 2" gun is the best gun for concealed carry ever. Big enough to still shoot very accurately, small enough to disappear under a shirt. Here's mine. It's a Model 10-5 produced in 1967. Here's a group at 7 yards. The red bullseye is 1" in diameter. Also, check...

Can I get a brief history of the Pre-17?

I've decided now that I am a S&W guy when it comes to handguns. My small collection (literally the smallest number allowing me to use the word "collection") includes two pieces from the 1970s. The first is a Model 10-6 4in HB square butt (shop said it was a trade-in, but who knows). It has the...

Concealed Carry Class in Cincinnati area

Hi Lost Lake. Yeah, I try to keep a low profile on the internet. But if someone wants to find me they can. Hopefully, they're not stupid enough to break into my house because I'm no high-roller. And hopefully their not stupid enough to do it when I'm home. My job involves a lot of web stuff, so...

Concealed Carry Class in Cincinnati area

Hey folks, I know it's taboo to reveal the city you live in on the internet, but there's close to 1.5 million people who live in and around Cincinnati, so I guess I'm not at too much risk. And with that many people, I would hope some are on this forum. Anyway, I was hoping someone might chime...

You just heard a window smash...

Any intruder would have to get through my vicious attack poodle. He is 20 lbs of pure terror, and we have tactical furniture placed throughout the house so no matter where you're standing he can get to your throat.

    10-6 help and advice

Mod 10s are not especially valuable or collectable. Millions were produced. If it's in excellent condition, maybe $500 if they are hard to find in your area. A more realistic value would be much closer to $250-300.

All this talk about rubber grips

Couple of things: I find it way more important for a grip to fill and fit my hand properly than to be soft and mushy. Next, unless they cover the back strap, rubber grips are doing little to "absorb" recoil. They might give you a more solid grip on the gun, which might help with muzzle rise...

I *think* I want to paint my sights...

Thanks for the info, folks. Look like I have a new project.

I *think* I want to paint my sights...

I have a model 10 and model 36. The 10 is blued, the 36 is nickel. They are both shooter grade. They are my primary handguns. The sights work on both revolvers, but in certain light they are terrible and pretty much invisible. What are the downside to painting sights? I know there's some...

    Advice from ankle holster users

poser - the smart carry solution looks ok, sort of a deep tuck option. I'll have to watch some videos about it, and see if the gun will fit my frame in that position. colby - Thad Rybka doesn't make holsters anymore, you can apparently find second hand ones, but I couldn't. Alessi still makes a...

    Advice from ankle holster users

Thanks, Colby. As I mentioned in my first post, I have a IWB holster on the way from Colorado right now. Should be here by the end of the month. I plan to use it mostly, but I know there will be times when it's ankle holster or nothing. It's just how I have to dress a few days every week. I'm...

    Advice from ankle holster users

Thanks for the input. The Renegade holsters look really nice. I'll have to get in touch with them. They have holsters for pretty large guns, so I bet they can make something work. I agree with the you folks' statements about a 3" being a bit big for ankle carry, but that's not why it's hard to...

    Advice from ankle holster users

I've used a variety of holsters. As some of you may know, I recently bought a 3" m-36. A great gun, but next to impossible to find holsters for. I have a custom Lobo Gun Leather IWB holster on the way, but I'd like to get an ankle holster as well for it. I'm well aware of the disadvantages that...

    Cool new carry holster

Looks well made. It looks like a "belly band" style, just for higher up. The only problem with under the shirt carry is getting to your weapon. The grip looks like it will be in your armpit, so drawing straight up and out of the holster will be tough. Not to mention getting to the gun. You'll...

How good is a M-36? I'll tell you.

Here she is with some Hogue "fancy" wood grips. The rosewood is a little flashy, but I think it complements the nickel. Despite usually not liking finger grooves, these fit my hand. Still waiting on leather, but it will be worth it.
