^^where do I find people to pay for car work with guns?!?!? I've been charging a case of beer for a brake job
Welcome, from another Charlotte, turbo Subaru driving member
Thanks guys.
Whoever I talked to at S&W said the part number was 20360 for the curved back-strap grips. I'm guessing he was mistaken as I can't find any compact curved back 45xx series grips on the internet.
I might try the pachmayr grip sleeve, as it doesn't seem like the straight back grips...
I know this has probably been discussed a thousand times, but....
How do you swap straight to curved back grips? I have a 4553 with straight grips that I want to switch to curved, like my 6906. I called S&W and they said the curved back-strap grips are on back order. I've been searching for...
Adding my 327PD to this thread--it isn't a PC gun though.
I've very fond of this piece, so much so that it is my primary home defense weapon, loaded with .38 Special +p's. The N frame does a great job soaking up the recoil, and my 5'2 wife can easily control/fire it :)
Hmmmm, now you guys have me reconsidering. I ran about 150 rounds of +p through my shorty 9 and it is my carry ammo. Aside from an occasional mag--when I get 12 rounds I have chambered a few times, my gun sees limited +p usage.
What are y'all using instead of +ps?
Interesting thread...I have a similar 4006 and kinda wondered the same thing.
How can you tell the hammer was DIY and not factory? I have only ever seen this variety, and the ones with black trigger/spurred hammer.
Below is my 4006, TFF serial # range. Fresh back from Trijicon with...
Did your 4006 have white dot or factory night sights?
If it had night sights, call Trijicon and they can re-lamp them. My 4006 is there right, $54 + shipping them the slide.
I've been doing the penny trick for years, it isn't much of a challenge anymore ;)
I think i was holding the gun higher/straighter out with a one hand grip. It doesn't help that with the carriers the target "sags" down, so in some ways the plane or angle you are aiming on is downward...
Took my new to me 4553 to the local indoor range today. I had some problems with it, but S&W took care of me (see my similar thread http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-semi-auto-pistols/179035-new-me-4553tsw-slight-problem.html)
Anyway, I took 150 rounds of various 230 grain ball ammo...
Fastbolt--
I had to read that a few times but it actually makes sense, thanks.
The firing pin wasn't hitting the primer at all. Oddly, this malfunction was only on the first round of a 7+1 load.
Took 15 business days from door-to-door. Consider me very pleased with S&W's customer service...
