Well, not quite. .32-20 is a bit longer than 8mm, so it might stick out in the chambers. A Lebel revolver or copy of a S&W would need to be slugged to be exact, but the bore might be slightly larger than .32, so you might run into undersizing issues.
Forming 8mm Lebel rounds by trimming .32-20...
It might have been made for the French Army in WWI, which would mean it's chambered in 8mm Lebel. .32 S&W Long will fit, but poorly because 8mm Lebel is slightly larger.
8mm can be made from shortened .32-20 cases.
I'm actually considering as similar revolver up here, with a proper sideplate.
I never understood the idea of .22, .38 or .45 shotshells, either. The shell size severely limits what size and how much shot can be fired, on top of the reduced range and accuracy of a revolver vs shotgun.
Yeah, it looks like I'm not missing anything.
Though, I think I'll buy one of those barrels anyway, just in case.
But as I said, smoothbore handguns are legal in Canada (as well as short barreled rifles and shotguns and rifles over .50 calibre).
Update: The store got back to me. It's been sold, and so has one of the barrels. I guess that serves me right for procrastinating.
I should probably post some photos.
Looking at photos on Armslist, it looks like M1917s have a thinner gap than my 1950 Target. Not sure why that is. Maybe it's just the angles in the photos.
I can email the store to ask for pictures. I'll ask for a photo of the cylinder open and butt (the lanyard loop is missing). If it was...
I thought it was Any Other Weapon.
Anyway, I am in Canada. The Firearms Act of 1995 does not mention short barreled shotguns or rifles, so long as the barrel was manufactured at that length, not cut down afterwards. This is about the only positive thing I can say about it, and I'll leave it at...
I've noticed a store has an M1917 in .45 Colt with a custom smoothbore barrel without an ejector rod socket and what look like K-frame Magnas, for C$449 (about US$350).
I've read the smoothbore was used for trickshooting, but I can't find any other info.
Another store has 5.5" Model 1950...
Since the subject of Patton's wheel guns came up, IMFDB has several photos of botht he real thing and the 'hero' gun carried by George C. Scott in Patton.
Patton's actual SAA.

Hello from Canada. I've visited many times but have only just decided to join and look forward to chatting with fellow enthusiasts.
And yes, Canada's laws are ridiculous.
