John, My 617 no dash with the 8 3/8" barrel had the same counterbored muzzle. I did not buy it new, but I venture to say it had less than fifty rounds thru it. Bill

I am presently working on a load which will not lead the barrel of a 610 and have found that a cast 180 tc, BH-18, and 5.8 grs of Unique to be close to what I am looking for (no leading).

Tried the 610 today with cast 180 tc with BH-18 and 10mm brass rather than the 40S&W brass. There was less barrel leading with the use of the 10mm brass than when I used the 40S&W brass. Tried three different powders with bullet velocities about 975'/s. Best powder/bullet combo was Unique...

Is this combination possible. I have had no luck loading anything with W-231 and 180 grain cast. Leading the first two inches of the barrel with velocities from 780 to 1075 feet per second. The four inches of the bore back from the muzzle are lead free. Bullet hardness is 18 and measures...

SaxonPig Thanks for the information on my revolver. It is a 4inch 38 Special with all matching numbers including the grips. Condition is about 90 to 95 percent and will be put to use on the range. Thanks again.
