    Wadcutters still relevant?

I load the solid base wad cutters and have confidence in them. The hollow base wad cutters can have a hole blown through them if loaded too hot. Ken Waters warns against this. Lead bullets achieve a bit higher velocity with less pressure than jacketed bullets. Good choice.

If you were in the times before guns what is your weapon of choice?

I am surprised the list did not include a Bowie Knife or the equivalent. That would be my choice.

If you could own only one revolver... read OP

If you want to appendix carry, you will need a 2" barrel and even that can be uncomfortable to sit down. The smallest will be a J frame and you probably should not have a hammer sticking out, so a Bodyguard or Centennial model. .38 Special is 5 shots and the .32 H&R Mag. will be a 6 shot...

What is your Go to War Sidearm?

I have a 9mm RIA Government 1911 and a military holster made in 1942, same year I was born. With 3 magazines and a K-Bar I guess that is all I would have on my belt, except for a canteen. Hopefully there would not be too much running around. And I would want more rank than L/Cpl since I...

Federal Introduces New .30 Super Carry Ammunition

It runs at very high pressure ... It runs at very high pressure, which is not a good thing in my opinion. It is a little better than a .32 acp in terms of weight at it's velocity but my guess is that as a self defense round in what you are apt to carry and use, it makes very little difference...

    GUN SHOW FIND TODAY

I bought Rick's revolver ... Rick and I were sharing a table at the gun show and he lucked out finding that 1950 S&W Combat Masterpiece. He took pity on me and sold it to me today. I have two pictures but I don't know how to post and a quick look at the site and I did not find any help. If...

    Now I understand...

.22 Magnum in the S&W 351... The .22 Magnum in the S&W 351 is very close to the feel of a .22 Velocitor out of a S&W 43c, ie, not enough recoil to bother you. I own both. I have seen the videos on velocity/penetration and the .22 Magnum out of a 2 inch revolver is about the same as the .22...

Any 43C or 351C users here, how do you like them?

I have both and I like both. These have the short grip allowing them to be carried in a front pant pocket. I need larger grips for the recoil of the centerfire versions of the S&W Centennials. The 43C is used for practice at less expense with training benefits for when I carry one of the...

Model 36, Detective Special or Model 10 snubs?? What's Your Favorite??

Can even go 7 shot... Like H Richard's post, I too have a S&W Centennial in .32 H&R Mag with a 6 shot capacity. But there are times I carry the S&W 351PD with a 7 shot capacity. The Hornady Critical Defense 45 gr. .22 magnum cartridge does a credible job and the combination of light weight...

    S&W 617 customized

Who did the gunsmithing... I do not know if forum rules let me post this information. If I am doing wrong, my apologies. The gunsmith is Corey Sibbio who owns Fort Corey Customs in Hyannis, MA. [email protected] I do not know what he charges for this work. He is a friend and...

    S&W 617 customized

Over the winter my gunsmith cut back the underlug on my six inch Model 617 and I am as happy as can be with it. I hope I have figured out how to attach the 2 photos I took today.

Walked out of home purchase at closing rant

A house is usually the most expensive purchase you make. It makes sense to have hired a lawyer to represent you at all stages of the transaction. The attorney should review the P&S Agreement before it is signed. Protections need to be built in. No matter how good the Broker is, the Broker...

    Sig P229

I bought mine as a .22 and later bought the 9mm slide/barrel for it. I had to send the frame and slide/barrel to Sig to have it fitted. They are wonderful people and I just received it back today. I am happy to read all of the glowing reports. Will be at the range later this week to shoot...

    Performance vs. Ladysmith vs. regular

Moon clips & extraction etc. I just bought a Pro-Series .357 and will use .38 Special and the moon clips as the shorter .38 Special cases and the moon clips makes extracting and dumping all 5 cases very easy. I have trouble at the range under no pressure in getting all 5 cases to clear the...

    2 Questions RE .380 Ammuntion

A parallel in hunting big animals... I think there may be a parallel in hunting big animals. The majority of the professional hunters/guides in South Africa advocate "big and slow is the way to go" and the time I went over there, my P.H. told be to use the toughest constructed bullets...
