Spyderco knives - did a bit of research this morning and learned quite a bit!

I'm not a fan of the locking mechanism on that Delica. Years ago I carried a Spyderco Harpy (fully serrated hawkbill type slashing utensil) and used it to cut the throat of a deer that had been hit by a car. One slash was all it took to get the job done but afterwards I realized that my...

    RCBS RockChucker -- the Agony

Back in the day I loaded my first 9000 rounds of .45 ACP on a Rockchucker. I was young and it didn't seem so agonizing at the time. But the Dillon 650 has made it much easier the last few decades.

    38 wadcutters and.......moonclips?!

I have most of a case of 1991 vintage Winchester Western .38 Special wadcutters. The W-W brass does not fit into moonclips so I'll be using my 5 Star speedloaders with loading block. Most of my .38 Special reloads are in mixed brass so they too will be used in speedloaders. I plan to go back to...

Snub nose revolver for self defense 9mm or 38sp

My 9mm moonclip carrier and de-mooning tool. Didn't cost me anything.

Snub nose revolver for self defense 9mm or 38sp

I'm quite fond of my 2" 940. As long as I use good new or once fired brass and slow powder I don't have the sticky extraction. Also, there are pill bottles that hold two loaded moonclips perfectly either with or without the cap. This will prevent them from getting bent when carried in a...

    Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) trip

Over the years I have flown with handguns out of Newark International Airport, NJ, Lehigh Valley International Airport, PA and I think Philadelphia International Airport. The only time I ever had any drama was at LVIA where a female told me I needed to have a magic TSA lock on the case. That's...

    Browning B92 vs Rossi R92.

I have a Rossi 92 .44 Magnum with 16" barrel. I'm very pleased with it. I'm impressed that it handles the Lee 310 gr. cast bullet perfectly with regard to feeding and accuracy. So far it has shot everything well from 200 to 310 grs. to include cast, plated and jacketed bullets. The 310 gr...

    Best Powder For 38 spl, 357, 44 mag, 9mm, 45acp, and 45 Colt?

I'm seeing powders mentioned that are very difficult to find. I've used more 231 than anything else and it has made actual service grade loads for me in everything from .25 ACP to .45 Colt. And it's still available.

    9mm hardcast?

As far as the meplat goes I think the Lee SWC is about as wide as you can get, at least for something that can be used in a 9mm. I am amazed that this bullet feeds so well in my Glocks.

    9mm hardcast?

The push through sizing die would resize the coated bullet but the coating at the front of the driving band was thick enough that it required the bullet be seated deeper into the case. This would cause the case to bulge excessively and restrict powder capacity, likely increasing pressure way...

    9mm hardcast?

I have used the Lee 158 gr. SWC sized down to .356 or better yet .355 with a good dose of Power Pistol. Overall length is critical for proper fit in the chamber but this load has given surprisingly high velocity. I have tried this bullet with a coating but that didn't work out too well. I...

    I need a shot timer

I still use my ancient CED 6000 which is still going strong. Years ago I actually met the CEO Charles Hardy at a church function. I had no idea who he is but the conversation turned to shooting and I mentioned my shot timer and he told me that CED is his company. He told me it was a great...

    Why is this happening

The firing pin bushing in the 610 is damaged but it can be replaced. The damage seems unusual for a "hot" load; if you're piercing primers the damage should be to the tip of the firing pin and the inner part of the bushing. Is it possible that the bushing had been protruding too far and was...

Ruger Redhawk replacing S&W 25-5 (.45s and family)

The Redhawk won't work with .45 Auto Rim and its thicker rims. It should in theory work with .45 Winchester Magnum, since Starline brass will fit into common moonclips. Given the Redhawk's various ignition shortcomings I always wondered how well it worked with moonclips. Headspacing on the...

Ruger Redhawk replacing S&W 25-5 (.45s and family)

I have a Bowen Redhawk Alpine Conversion .45 Colt. It's a six shot rebore of a .44 Magnum. I put thousands of rounds of 255 gr. SWC at 945 FPS through that revolver, mostly fast double action shooting. It eventually developed some serious ignition problems to the point where it would not fire...
