for working on my shooting, mainly for steel challenge.

Any recommendations on what to get? Without spending more than I have to.
thanks

I own this and I love it

The AMG Lab timer is my current preferred timer. Simple to operate. Has a choice of loudness settings for start horn. Loud is loud; easy to hear. It will Bluetooth to a tablet running the Practiscore program. Picks up 100% of the time there. Been on the market 2-3 years now. The first year or so availability was scarce, so wait times of up to 12 months happened. Manufacturer didn't skimp on quality while he upped production. Several vendors carry it now and availability is more likely to be a few weeks, at most. May require a potential effort to check stock frequently on those vendors, to catch what they want, such as skin color, on the shelf.

I still use my ancient CED 6000 which is still going strong. Years ago I actually met the CEO Charles Hardy at a church function. I had no idea who he is but the conversation turned to shooting and I mentioned my shot timer and he told me that CED is his company. He told me it was a great design that became obsolete only because the parts were no longer made. These are still available used so apparently they do hold up pretty well.
