Lever action assault rifles

All my lever actions are blued steel & walnut and that’s part of my attraction to them. If I want an “assault rifle” I’ll reach for one of my AR’s (some of which are equipped with weapon-lights) or one of my AK’s. No firearm feels as good in your hands as a nice, unadorned lever action rifle though.

I could see synthetic stocks on lever guns, but a .45-70? If one has not shot one, they will find out quickly what recoil is.
A red dot would be good for fast and easy shooting, in addition to the buckhorn sights. Someone has lost their ever-loving mind to spend $7-10k on a lever gun.

Huge scopes with lots of magnification and flashlights attached to guns seems to be the way of many shooters today.
JUST AN OLDMAN'S THOUGHT ..... with these younger generation people that have grown up on video games and imaginary weapons, this would probably look pretty cool ! but only good for imaginary monster hunting !

I'll go against the grain here by saying that I like it...There's always room for new thinking, and if someone wants to spend money on it rather than competing against me for my next prewar S&W, then so be it...Personally I'd rather have my own version of a chopped up Marlin which resides comfortably in my safe......Ben

Personally - I don't see the need or purpose to modify any lever action rifle to such an outlandish state. And the prices quoted add to my state of confusion.
But then again, I'm old and "set in my ways" (as my Bride would say). I do like "furniture rifles". You know, the ones made of blued steel (sometimes stainless) and walnut.
If that modified sort of rifle is what excites you - then go ahead, spend lots of $$$$$$$, but don't expect folks of my persuasion to drool over or justify its development.

While I'm not a fan, they do provide some options for a defensive carbine for those that live in anti-2A states where ARs are not a viable choice.

That said, it has become a 'fad' and a bit overdone, to say the least.

This is the one on GB that they’re asking basically $10,000.
I did not post the link because I know that they get fussy about such things…..

This one was set up by someone who has never turned on a gun mounted light in the dark 🤣 There’s a perfectly good, empty MLok slot at the forward end of the handguard - where that light belongs. For $10k a tape switch isn’t too much to ask for.

I bought a Rossi R-95. Then I bought a 2x prism from Primary Arms. Nice optic mounted up high for an AR. Put a rail on top of a 336-style receiver and the prism on top of that … I couldn’t even get a chin weld. So I bought an adjustable stock from Ranger Point Precision. Thought might as well and got the handguard too. The stock actually is great ergonomically. The handguard is silly.

You can see how much I needed the comb raised! That quiver on the stock is great. The one on the handguard interfered with my off hand sometimes. I ended up selling this Franken-lever at a loss of a couple hundred bucks. The guy who bought it was so excited I thought he was going to soil himself. Should’ve asked for more.

Now to sooth your eyes, I humbly offer this 1949 Winchester Model 64 Deluxe. In the end, I agree that this is what a 30-30 lever action rifle should look like.

(Sorry for the auction pic - photographing long guns is still a challenge for me)

I can hear it now. Democrats calling it a weapon of war, proposing bans on this Assault weapon. I have quite a few Lever guns but none will be of that variety. Two do have threaded barrels and it’s nice to use suppressors now and then.

It doesn't matter what we make them look like... they don't want you to have any of them and they won't stop until they ban all guns. If they get what they want with "assault" rifles, anything with a scope will be next... "sniper rifles". Suppressors are only needed by "assassins"... It will never end, so NEVER compromise, and SUPPORT other shooters even if you don't care for what they like.

I collect levers and have many, started in 1976, I think. I have 5 in 357 for example, several brands, have an 1895 in 410, looks just like my Guide Gun in 45-70, Winchesters, Rossi, Henry, and Marlin, old ones and new ones and one sweet Golden Boy in 22 mag.

Look at this picture. What are you doing with "that scope?" Think about rapid firing and recoil, that scope is not needed for any assault requirements, too big and in the way. Yes I have scoped 45-70, mine is stainless Guide Gun with 16 inch tube. Kicks like heck and there is no assault speed. The fore end needs something solid for the front hand to hold, the AR type plastic is a poor thing to hold onto in high recoil and adds nothing to function.

Any light will work, a green laser would add greatly to function also. The stock sucks, because you need a rigid cheek weld for accuracy and the hollow butt stocks suck for that.

An ammo wallet on the stock is handy and welcome, but that one is not the best, you notice they display it with some ammo up and some down? Rookies.

My take is this is just an attention getter for their brand, they are really trying to sell something else, maybe their brand of stocks or cheaper guns. Bottom line, it is just a Marlin or Ruger. everybody makes good lever guns now, Smith and Wesson and several off name brands at a lower cost. Even the Rossi on the 336 platform competes with the Marlin in quality now. The quality of the lever guns through history was related to brand and you got what you paid for, that is over. I look at them and handle them so I am not commenting on pictures or reviews and 50+ years of firing them and working on them gives a hint. I even have others in 410, a half dozen companies make those now.

Brand means very little these days. We love our Smith and Wesson wheel guns and steel guns and will always pay more for them. That said, even Taurus and Rossi and most of the lesser brands of 5-10 years ago are equal or close in quality of manufacture. They may never compete in customer service and such, but most steel wheel guns and levers are great these days.

Fire a few of these quickly and tell us the value of that stock configuration. A rookie deal in my view. Hey look at me kind of deal only. They get attention and people fall for it. Some even start a thread on a forum and we bite.....

I love lever guns and I want to buy a new one really bad but I absolutely hate the new loops everybody is using, I refuse to buy one with that loop on it. I've actually thought about buying one and reshaping the loop to look proper but I don't have time for a new project. As far as the AR look, hideous in my opinion.

Love me some Henry "all steel" 45-70 w/a scope. I also have a brass receiver 30-30 Henry too 45-70 with scope1.jpg

My wife and I like to dry camp up in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Put a red dot on my model 64 for bear, and keep it right next to the bear spray. All the gun I should ever need, without all of the Gucci crap.
