    Thanks folks for the answers. Appreciate your wisdom. I will stay a little on the light side I think and stay away from the full boat loads for most shooting.

    Could you please direct me to a thread on whether all factory 44 Rem. Mag. loads are safe to use in my Model 629-1. I have no luck searching forums. I have heard anecdotal talk that the earlier 29's were not built as heavy as the later dash models and it has me a little concerned. Thanks,

    I thank all of you for your answers. Now I know what I have, what is original and what is not. Because mechanics appear excellent, all that is left is for me to shoot it and enjoy it. For the $575 I paid, I have no reason for buyers remorse even if the trigger is altered and grips are not...

    Thanks guys...Yes, my scope mount barrel looks like the one in the first reply. So, as simple as that...they just put the new barrel on an older frame. About the trigger, so it has to be 0.4 wide and serrated to be factory? Why replacement would you guess...were the factory triggers known...

    Looking in Supica/Nahas, and still puzzled. What have I got here? ...bought a 629-2, (according to internet seller). 8 3/8 barrel. Has the integral top slots and keyhole side cutouts for scope on the barrel; looks factory. as a 629-2 should have. However, inside frame says 629-1! Also...
