    Xmas Gift 2 Me

Found a M745 on Wed and picked it up on Thursday. No time yet to shoot it. This is NOT the IPSC model, rather the std model. Came with original box and three mags, two with plastic bumpers and one the flat steel floor plate. IIRC, there was some sort of problem with the original mags which...

    M745 Features

Have been reading forum trying to understand evolution of the 645 to the 745 and beyond (change in model numbers) but am still confused. I have a 645 but it has no model number on it! Also have an IPSC 745 as well as a 945. Which mags from other models fit the 745? Also, which holsters fit...

    S & W 945

In Sweeney's book on the S&W he laments on the 945 being dropped due to company interest in producing their new M1911 as well as production costs. They are, indeed, exceptional pistols.

    Star Pistols

I have a beautifully blued Model S with the original box. It has the target grips and adjustable rear sight. Fits my hand perfectly and is VERY accurate. However, it prints 6 inches above POA at 7 yards due to the high rear sight. Have not been able to find a source of a fixed rear sight...

    NEW RELOADING CRISES

I began reloading to save money; in fact I could not and did not buy any factory ammo for many years. I enjoyed reloading so much that I considered shooting as only a means to get empty cases! Over the years my emphasis shifted as I learned that being able to shoot more resulted in my ability...

    Progressive Press?

FYI Mike Venturino who writes for gun magazines uses two SDBs, one in 9 mm and the other in 45 ACP, to keep his sub-guns running with cast lead bullets. I have one set up for .38 Spl which I have used for 25+ years. On my 550, again 25 years in use, I use the Dillon PM which continues to...

PULLED THE TRIGGER ON A NEW DILLON PRESS YESTERDAY

Some general comments. I have several Dillon presses, my first one in 1988, and generally try to dedicate one to the cartridge that I am mostly loading. Some years ago I acquired a well used XL1050 set up for .45 acp and that was the best buy I have made. The 1050 IS great for the primer...

PULLED THE TRIGGER ON A NEW DILLON PRESS YESTERDAY

Chief, that clamp on work light must have been made with Dillon reloaders in mind. I hope that you have the stock number for that blue one as I would like to order same. Internet catalog shows one for $20 but does not mention that is is 12vdc. Also, the head is slightly different looking than...

    Crimp die for 45Auto Rim

Moxie is correct. I use the std taper crimp dies for both ACP and AR cases with the same powder, primer, and bullet loads for both. I realize that you probably want to use heavier bullets so need the roll crimp, but they should be out there in most old gun shops or at gun shows. Should not...

Quick value check, 52-2 .38 wadcutter Targetmaster

Fantastically accurate, has a fantastic trigger, and is a joy to rack the slide. However, a very hard pistol to master for bullseye shooting. It was made specifically for the centerfire portion of a three gun (2700 point) match. Uses ONLY 148 gr wadcutter or double ended wadcutter bullets...

    Shellplate storage?

I use empty (of course!) peanut butter jars for shell plate storage. I keep them in alpha-numa order so it is easy to find the one I want. A list stapled to the wall behind my bench lists components needed by cartridge for my Dillon 550. dd45

    Smith & Wesson 10mm model 1086

mbliss57: You wrote " 1086 DAO pistol (I have one also) is 1 of only 1620 ever made. So although you can easily get $xxx." I just bought one today and wonder where you got the production data. I have the Supica-Nahas book and could not find production figures in that book. dd45

Scored on 5 brand new 10mm mags!

Great find! I bought a 1086 today with 7 mags w/yellow followers and found another in the "junk" box w/white follower. IIRC, the white one had a dash number. Anyone know why the upgrade? My 1086 was a police turn-in and just sat for almost a year. Still, cost me just over $500. dd45

    NIB 745s

If those are consecutive serial numbered guns, perhaps reselling them to a collector unfired would bring more $$$$ so that you could buy later models of 1911s. Just a thought. I have an IPSC marked gun. dd45

    S&W Model 59 Original Configuration

Both my 39s and 59 have std black front sights. I use the Std S&W ref by Supica & Nahas. This covers ALL S&Ws thru 2006 so will not have the latest models covered. dd45
