I have recently been making an effort to restore a S&W Model 59 to original factory configuration. In the years that have passed before it came into my possession, someone put pachmyr wrap-arounds on it, stainless grip screws, and slathered day-glo orange paint on the front sight seration. The pistol is in otherwise excellent condition with original finish and shoots dead on and functions without a hiccup. I have managed to secure original factory grips and screws as well as period-correct mags. The only question outstanding is did S&W at the factory paint the front sight seration that bright day-glo orange as it seemed there were two layers of paint on the seration. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
