New to me 38/44 She's home! ** updated photos added**

If you are looking for a period holster, check eBay for one made by the George Lawrence Co. of Portland, Or. Sadly, theyu are gone now, but their holster charts are available online. And their holsters are still available on eBay. To the best of my knowledge, S&W didn't offer holsters until...

Looking for loading data for S&W K-32 or Model 16

Next week, I will be aquiring a S&W 16-3, and I am wondering if anyone out there has some loading data they would like to share? I am not interested in making it into a 32 H&R, or a 327 Federal, but would like to use it humanely on varmints and such. As the targets will be smaller, suffice to...

    25-2 Pick Up

If yours is half the gun mine is, you will love it! One of my most most versatile, and accurate revolvers!

Problem with .45 Auto Rim loads

Shouldn't have any problem. For a long time, my standard load in the 25-2 was 7.0gr Unique with the Keith 452423 which with my alloy was 240grs. No pressure signs, easy extraction, and quite accurate.

    Model 53 4 screw

I believe all the model 53's came with walnut diamond grips. I don't recall seeing any smooth grips until the late 70's or maybe early 80's. But then the memory fades with age.......

    Two very important lessons

Just FWIW, and before you toss that Wolf spring kit. S&W assemblers will file the strain screw to adjust the hammer tension at the factory. So, if for example, your gun had a stronger than normal main spring, and was adjusted to the minimum tension specs, your strain screw might be too short...

629 vs Mountain Gun - Thoughts

629 Mt Gun vs 5" 629 A primary question is how much are you going to carry it vs how much are you going to shoot it. If you are going to carry a lot, go with the Mt Gun. If you are going to shoot it a lot with full power loads, go with the Classic. Beyond that, for me, at least the Mt Gun...

Model 27-2 or older. 3.5 inch or 5 inch? And why please.

5" vs. 3 1/2" 27's Given those two choices, I would go with the 5" every time. For me, it balances better, has a longer sight radius, and normally will give a bit better velocity. Additionally, with a proper 5" strong side holster, it is the longest barrel That I can wear sitting in a car...

    1970s Police Service Pistol question

1970's Police service Revolvers When I became an officer in 1972, the department issued model 15's. We were allowed to purchase, and carry our own model 19's if we so desired. Just as an aside, if we did so, the first three rounds were required to be 38 Specials. The last three could be .357's

    Reloading the 22 Jet

I have loaded the Jet with both the Remington and the Hornady bullets. It is not a complicated round, aside from proper bullets and brass being a bit hard to come by these days. As I recall, my best results were with H-110 and 2400. Stay away from top loads! They tend to stick in many guns...
